Nancy, If her attempts aren't showing up in the group's Activity log as (failed) attempts then the most likely cause is using the wrong posting address. But in that case she should be getting a

There is no setting to default this checkbox nor a group setting to 'always notify' - which you probably wouldn't want to do, for example, when uploading a bunch of files, the group would get notified
