I am not sure if you lose anything by downgrading to basic after a month. I don't know how long ago you started your Groups.io group and whether you have any legacy enabled features (grandfathered).

Yes. When you do the upgrade, one of the "green-button" options is "Premium for one month." After that one-month interval, the group will automatically be downgraded. See screenshot below. Regards,
