From Apple support: "an attachment must be included in the body of an email message sent from the Apple Mail app, the option to add an attachment (as the AOL app does) is currently not available."

I think that's part of the problem.? Groups.io is not a forum system, it's an email list that has a web presence, so it handles things a bit differently than something like phpBB.? Many folks don't

User Interface Suggestion
When the user sees the pink "You are not subscribed to this group with this email" you can shorten the pink portion up to the length of the text and to the right of it should be the Join This Group
