Re: Members Unable to Post to Group
To quibble, though, that's a pun on "file".? The EOF at the end of a Hollerith deck was to indicate that the program ended there, not a file that the program was reading.? That is, the punch card

Re: Yahoo Transfer Backlog?
Tom, I initiated a Yahoo group transfer yesterday and the transfer was completed this evening. Admittedly, it was a group with very little content, but all the messages, members, files, photos and

Re: When replying to messages in this group
In this group many of us (most?) prefer to read posts in an email client. It is common courtesy to allow for that by including in replies sufficient of the previous message to make it clear what you

Re: Members Unable to Post to Group
The concept is much older than that. I remember using a special EOF character (although we didn't call it that) on a 1st generation computer, where input and output was punched cards only. The

Patti, Allow Members To Download Archives is a rather new option, and I doubt that very many have experience with it. I've not tested it myself. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/17451 But yes, I

Different email engines handle "include original message" in different ways, or don't include them it all. It depends on how you answer a post, whether the thread shows up. Some folks aren't savvy

Re: Automatic Unsubscribes?
Patty, That's certainly a possibility. I can't say it is a certainty, given the vagaries of how various email services filter spam. I've done that on occasion, using my personal email, in some of my

Received from Leslie Noelani at 7/3/2018 10:45 PM UTC: EOF means "end of file" in this context also, but it emanates from deep within the mail server software and isn't something you can do anything

Re: Members Unable to Post to Group
I'm googling EOF (which is the other error message) and it either means "end of file" in python script (which doesn't seem to make sense here) or something related to SMTP (is that a smart phone?)
