Can Member be Added Without Sending the Invitation? #addmembers

 

I have clients.? They've given verbal approval to participate in a group (it's better for them if they don't have to accept some sort of invitation; too inconvenient and sometimes it gets buried in their inbox).? Not a deal breaker for the client but they've already executed other formalities to become a client in the first place (would like to cut down on the administrative overload and skipping your invite would be one way to to this).

Maybe.? It depends on the group settings.? On the Settings page, scroll down to the Features section.? Then scroll a little farther to the Files area.? Check to see what the Permissions are set for.? It sounds like you want "Subscribers can view and upload".? If you don't want everyone to be able to upload files, you could make the treasurer a moderator, with whatever limited permissions you want them to have, and use Permissions of "Subscribers can view, moderators can upload".

Our treasurer is trying, for the first time since transfer, to upload her monthly report.

She reports that she can't and that she sees:

The circle backslash no symbol appears over the Upload File button.
Do people have to be moderators or something to upload a file?

This video describes them as a filing system. That's how I use them.
Your hashtags will likely be different from mine because mine mirror the topics my group talks about.

BTW, using only hashtags in the subject line makes it impossible to get to the thread later to read it since clicking on it will take you to a list of the messages with that tag.

Correction!? This doesn't happen any more since Mark 'fixed' the hashtag usage in the Subject line.? Sorry if I caused any confusion.

BTW, using only hashtags in the subject line makes it impossible to get to the thread later to read it since clicking on it will take you to a list of the messages with that tag.

Greetings. We are in the process of transferring?our Yahoo group of fourteen?years to groups.io.? Many/most of our members (including me) are not experienced with the #hashtag feature.? I am looking for any relevant, useful, and short YouTube videos or other resources that would simply and clearly explain how to use them to share with our group members. So far, I have found videos focused on Twitter and Instagram usage. Any suggestions?

To be entirely clear, this is how the boxed message reads, word for word:

Note that it does not say that the Yahoo group invitation has been accepted, only that it's been received.

I'm sure this is an attempt on Mark's part to keep people from sending multiple invitations, although few seem to getting the message.

No don't think there is, but you can suggest this to the beta group if there is not a way to do this.

I love the idea of a keyboard or a column or what not you can add in the spread sheet.

I never look at or reply to any ntices before I join a group. I just throw them in the trash, so yeah for ?at least the member it's aeditional work as I like I said never look. ?I just assume I'm in and that's ? it.

Thank you?Duane for the 'zips won't be copied' note.?That is?sucky for what I wanted. Zips?have been a safety decision for?things like written, tested and released tutorials. Thanks for letting me know not to expect them to be copied and moved. Best to know now for me and my members,?rather than later.

There has been a lot of discussion here and on the beta group about having this capability.? For now, most are using the Pending Subscription message, though it does add a step and a bit more work for owners/moderators.

There's no need for them to be moderated if you don't want that.? Just go to the hashtag, probably #cal-reminder, deselect the Moderated box, and Update Hashtag.? I've done this for most of my hashtags.

I did a search and found nothing on this topic.

We have a good number of events in the calendar which send out reminders. ?For example everyone's birthday. ?It would be nice to have an option on the owners/moderators calendar settings to by-pass the need for reminders to be moderated. ?By putting it in the calendar it would be "approved" automatically.
