Re: Members not receiving group emails
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýMarie,I have a couple of members in one of my groups who is having trouble receiving emails from the rest of the group. The group was originally set up to return to sender and they changed it to return to group, These two gals are able to send and receive their own emails but are not able to receive any of the other member emails. That's an odd symptom. Usually the complaint from Gmail users is that they receive everyone's messages except their own. If the messages are being posted in the group's Messages section then those two members should receive them also, as long as their subscription is set to receive individual messages, and All of them: And further down the page, in the Advanced Preferences: Most members won't have selected Following Only, but that's one way of restricting what messages you receive so it may be worth verifying that it isn't the problem. Would this be a problem from the original setting? No. If it were the messages wouldn't be posted in the group either. I'm just trying to get to the bottom of their issues and help them figure out how to handle this. AnnH's suggestion that they check Gmail's alternative inbox folders, as well as Gmail's Spam folder, are worth checking before looking for more complex issues. If they still don't find the group's messages they could also check their Email Delivery History tab in their Subscription page. This will tell them about recent delivery success and unsuccessful attempts. The dates in those reports are of interest - if the more recent date is success then there probably isn't a problem delivering messages to their Gmail addresses. As a moderator of the group you could also check their Email Delivery History. They changed their emails and passwords under Account.Well, that means at least someone was able to log in at least once. You can't upload a file without being logged in. What is the best way to handle this? The first thing to remember is that in groups.io, your email address IS the user ID. There is no separate identifier. If these users have more than one account, it will be under different email addresses. |

Hello Lori, it looks like what needs to happen here, is that they somehow got locked out. This happens with the 30 day policy of being logged in. And not actually accessing your groups View the login website every day. I had this happen to me yesterday and I want to sign up for a new group, and it asked me to confirm my email address and I was like I'm in the wrong screen. So I had to change my email address and then change it back it was really weird. It was like I almost made a new hole account. So in their case, I would go ahead and have them click the email me and login link. Matter of fact, you can do this for them if they're not so Internet savvy. But if you want them to learn how to do it themselves, and if you don't have the time to teach her show. I don't mind assisting in that department. I normally provide free one-on-one support for the blind using different pieces of technology working with either websites, or devices themselves. And figuring out how things work. Getting people down right path so that way that they can better understand how to work their devices. I would not mind assisting your two members if you would like. Now but going back to the email me a login link. You will simply insert their email address, and then click the submit button. Then, when they get the email, they will click the login link that groups I/O has sent to them. Then once I click that link. They can go to the profile, which should be there name. Then once they click on there name and go to their profile, they can go to the account section, and specify a password for that account. I hope this helps. And that they need any assistance, feel free to send me a good way to contact them. As I can assist them via phone if necessary. If they wouldn't wish to call me, I would not mind taking their calls either. My business phone number can be found below for you. If I don't have an answer in my secretary Answers, to specify that this is working with groups I/O. And you need to speak with Joseph Hudson.

Email Change Help Please!
I have the same problem with 2 of my members. ?Neither are internet savvy so I am not sure exactly what happened, but I think they are both the same scenario. ?I read a whole bunch of other email change questions but none yet that match my problem.
They changed their emails and passwords under Account. I see the correct emails in the directory. Now neither can login at all. ? One has already posted and uploaded a file. ?The other had not yet even posted. ? What is the best way to handle this? Can I find out if they have duplicate groups.io accounts? Thanks, Laurie |

Alexis,I have received the confirmation email, but nothign else..was just wondering what an 'average' response time may be? And I realise with the influx of yahoo users that it will take longer. If you got the automated reply, but are awaiting a human response that normally takes a day or so, but recently support has been innundated both with Yahoo Group transfer requests and likely with issues relating to Europe's new GDPR law. Still, it shouldn't take Mark more than a few days to respond.Absolutely, and it doe snto make sense to me as I have described elsewhere. Ah, wonderful and thanks Bruce :) I thought so to, but as very few of the contents of the messages are real 'words' I have become used to such things from all the search engines, over the years :) I tried searching for that and got no results, rather than a bunch of messages with those characters highlighted. But I didn't create any messages that would actually contain that string so maybe I didn't have the initial conditions of the test set up correctly.Very good point, but I manually typed in the search term, so no hidden characters there. Thanks very much for your help Alexis |

Ah, but when the subject matter is a log of data, all the contents of the message are relevant, or not releveant to the subject.

But I do see you argument, and have always realised that the type of messages posted on my groups are in the minority, especially as they contain very few real words. But still, limiting the search to only a certain number of words seems pointless. If a message is less than the limit, the the speed factor will not come into it. If it is more than the limit and the entire message is searched, then that particular search will just take longer. I realise that it may put extra strain on the server, but as the bulk of the messages, as you stated are less than 500 words, the hadnful of seraches made on my group and other similar ones, coupled with good indexing and search coding, along with modern hardware, should cause even a noticeable strain in the server. Do you know for sure that there is a limit on the search routines. Or is it just supposition? Cheers Alexis On 26/05/2018 10:33, Bruce Bowman wrote:

Settings to allow members to see the calendar
#calendar
My group is new to Groups.io and we are learning our way around the site. We decided to use the Calendar to post events that would be of interest to our members. What setting would I choose to allow the moderators to have access to post to the calendar and allow all the members to see it? I have some members who can't see the different events. Thanks! |
