I agree that it is all a bit confusing. In my (restricted) group we approved some members because they reacted to the Pending Member message introducing themselves, as required. Nevertheless, in the members' list they show with a NC badge. I sent them a confirmation mail but nothing changed. I'm not sure what to do.

On the other hand, we have a pending member who's been sitting there for a quite while, since May 2. We sent him two confirmation mails with no success. I checked his delivery history and found this message dated May 3:
"2.6.0 <[email protected]> [InternalId=11927124306244, Hostname=DB5EUR03HT080.eop-EUR03.prod.protection.outlook.com] 8748 bytes in 0.308, 27.729 KB/sec Queued mail for delivery "
So, apparently, he did not even receive the two confirmation mails.

I've read reports this morning in my Y!groups that the CAPTCHA mechanism, required to accept an invite or to join by web, is not working - fails to present an image to solve.?

If that's the case it may be another roadblock for the transfer agent.

Mark was on vacation for about 10 days and transfers were on hold during that time because they require manual intervention.? There was a backlog of about 400 transfers when he returned.? Depending on the backlog, size of the groups transferring, and a few other variables, it can take some time for your group(s) to get to the top of the queue.? I'd give it 2-3 weeks after you get the notice that the invitation has been received.? From what I've heard, that can seem like forever as things on YG continue to deteriorate.? Makes me really glad I moved here over 3 years ago before transfers piled up! ;>)

I tried to send this last night, ~18 hours ago, guess I will wait a bit longer.

I did that same thing when I moved my group.? As I remember, it only took a couple of hours, and I received notification when they were sent.

I have two group transfers stuck at the "we have received the invitation" mode...? the system has not accepted the invitations for about a week.

My first group transfer went well, but 2 more are "stuck" I sent the invitation to [email protected], the status checker says that it got the invite and get
"We've received the invite to your group and will accept it soon. There is no need to send another invite."

but nothing happens, the invitation never get's accepted, since I see no pending members in these groups (largescale and VaioU70).

The indications are that groups.io never accepted the invitation... and I did send the invitations again...

looks broken...

I sent out a group invite for a new group to 100+ email addresses.? I got a message that they would be reviewed then sent.? About how long does this take, and will I know if there is an issue with it?? I hesitate to also send out an email with a link then have everyone get the direct invitation.

Thanks for the reminder about moderated groups.? The tool is still good to trace the message after it leaves groups.io.

If someone who either (a) has no existing Groups.io Account, or (b) has an account but proceeds without logging in to it, applies to join a Group then Groups.io wants to know that the request to join is "real" and not spurious, possibly to the point of being a spammer. In order to determine the legitimacy of the application Groups.io returns a message to the applicant which basically means "is this application real?" Only when that confirmation is returned does membership process move ahead.

However, it is all rather confusing; it also depends on whether the application comes in by email, or from a group webpage, and whether the group in question is "restricted" (the application requiring specific approval by an Owner or Moderator) or "unrestricted" (not requiring specific Owner or Moderator approval) as well as the (a) or (b) criteria mentioned in the paragraph above. The sequence can also be modified by whether or not the group in question makes use of "Pending Subscription" messages as part of its entry process.

"Not Confirmed" means that the applicant has not confirmed that they really do want to join! Until they do then the application is automatically put on hold,although there is nothing to stop an O / M overriding that hold; arguably not a very good idea. When you referred to the "member page" I take it that you meant "Pending Member" page. There is a difference.

If someone subscribes to your group and their email address is not yet present among groups.io users, the system sends them a confirmation email. They have to click on a link in that email to confirm that it's a legitimate address.

That means they haven't confirmed their email address with groups.io.? They were sent an email telling them how to do it.? If they don't have that email, you can send another by clicking on the row for their entry anyplace except on the check box.? On their membership page, scroll to the bottom and click on "Send Conformation Email".

There are multiple ways to unsubscribe.

Option A (easiest option):
1) Open your email client.
2) Log into the email account (not the GIO group) that you want to unsubscribe
3) Send a blank email to?[email protected]?, (replacing GROUPNAME with the actual name, of course)
4) You are done.

Option B:
1) Log into groups.io using the email address that you want to unsubscribe (/static/help#password)
2) Go to the group
3) Click on Subscription
4) Click on the big red "unsubscribe" button at the bottom of the page

Option C:
1) If you no longer have access to the email address that you want to unsubscribe, contact the group owner ([email protected]) and have him/her kick you off.
