Re: Is there a way to embed iframe or map inside a post

Re: When I am just a member why doesn't the group I belong to show up in "My groups"
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýEllen, you are not alone. I experience the same thing trying to unsubscribe from a group. It seems the system only recognizes one address? making it hard to unsubscribe from an alt address.? Maybe if an admin of that group
you want to unsub from will do it for you...

Re: When I am just a member why doesn't the group I belong to show up in "My groups"
Alas I find I'm not capable of doing this. I can't join as I am because it's said I already am a member. When I hit unsubscribe on their email, I don't know what to do next and anyway it would come from my present address not the?older address?I want to unsubscribe. So I shall have to forego going over to site unless (which I did) I save this first email and anytime I want to go there, use it. This sort of thing is par for the course for me. Thank you all anyway. Ellen |

Re: Bouncing
Shal,
Some services, specifically Road Runner, throttle how much traffic a user may have.? I've often seen a bounce from xxxx.rr.com saying "too many messages during this period" or "exceeded capacity" or some such.? If I remember correctly RoadRunner is free and the old saw about no free lunch applies, Bob Bellizzi |

Re: When I am just a member why doesn't the group I belong to show up in "My groups"
No I am part of the group. I reread the message and see that I am joined from an older email address I have -- it is my second address on my own groups. I don't know where to access it though unless I save this first email and ever after return to the email to access the site. Otherwise I can only email them from my gmail and it is a different address or secondary one from my gmail. Can someone tell me how to re-configure this group to be part of my primary gmail. Do I have to contact the owner? Ellen On Tue, May 15, 2018 at 8:26 PM, Duane <txpigeon@...> wrote: Are you sure that you actually joined the group?? Are you sure that you actually joined the group?? The archives there are public, so you could read them without being a member.? Check their home page, /g/bookerprize, and scroll down to just above Message History.? If you see a "+Join This Group" button, the email address you're signed in with isn't a member.

Re: When I am just a member why doesn't the group I belong to show up in "My groups"
No I sorry to say it doesn't. As far as I know I am subscribed to this Booker Prize group under the same address I am to my three groups. I don't see the Booker Prize group unless I click on this email I've been sent. Also are attachments sent with digests?Attachments are sent based on the user's (and the group default) subscription preferences. See "Max Attachment Size" under Subscription->Advance Preferences and also under Admin->Settings-Default Sub Settings (button at the top of the group Settings page). Bottom line is that you set a default for your group which an individual subscriber can override with their subscriber settings. I have my group(s) set to a default of 5 MB because a few ISP's will bounce messages bigger than that, which (as you might imagine) creates its own problems. The downside is that if a subscriber does send a huge attachment and it arrives to another subscriber as a link, the second one will have to log in before they can download it, and [all too often] become confused when confronted with the login page. The only impact the email delivery setting has on this (individual vs digest) is that with the digest setting attachments could accumulate over several messages. Therefore a digest is more likely to contain hyperlinks instead of the original documents if you set up any email size restriction...or get really big if you don't. Pick your poison, Bruce P.S. I'm told that GIO will forward any message up to some ridiculous number like 95 MB...so that's not likely to become a bottleneck. -- The system Help is your friend.??/static/help |
Re: Bouncing
Bob,
One of my members is bouncing and if I look at their history, I see this: The IP address is owned by Linode, apparently one of the servers leased by Groups.io. what does this mean and how can it be fixed? The message doesn't specify whether that limit is being applied per user, or to their service overall. But either way, the member should copy/paste that response code and text to their email service's tech support and explain to them that messages from that server (and Groups.io generally) are wanted and are not to be rejected. If the member can't get their service to "play nice" perhaps Mark can talk to them. So I'd escalate the issue to him if the email service ignores their customer. Re: Attachments & Digests
I find myself very disconcerted by your use of "summarily" in this context. The transfer instructions are quite clear that message attachments are not migrated. No, no, no. The were deleted by Yahoo years ago. Yahoo just decided one day to strip all attachments from messages. After that they were stored separately in files, but anything before that was gone. Also are attachments sent with digests? We find that people don¡¯t look at attachments if they aren¡¯t delivered. That may change because Groups.Io is so much faster but the time to wait for yahoo to open, then locate the file is more than some people will take. I didn't know it was possible to reverse this and monitor an IP address using similar criteria.? What is the domain of the receiving address? If so we may need to contact them somehow and let them know that groups.io is a provider of mailing lists and sending lots of messages is to be expected. I hope this helps, but it probably doesn't.
