Chat Issues
Today we had a chat with about 10 people in our group, but encountered a few issues:

Attachments & Digests
Attachments were not sent with digests on Yahoo. Are they on Groups?
We were one of the groups who summarily had all the attachments in our files deleted. That meant all the records from the formation of multi-million $ housing community were lost. I started reminding everyone to both use attachment but to paste the information into the message so it couldn¡¯t be separated and lost. Is there anything to be cautious of in attachments now? Re: db column types and sorting
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýUse zeros in your numbering system. 021,025,040,110,128,141. ? Don ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Lew Volk ? Is there a work-a-round?for sorting numeric?data? That is to say. It looks to?me like numbers in a column is getting?sorted as if they were alpha characters i.e.? 110, 128, 141, 21, 25, 40....when it should be 21,25,40,110,128,141. I'd think a column type of numeric would resolve it, but I don't see that option. |

Re: Members receiving post at different times
Just something you might think about using, if it is an issue with members' settings. Special notices: If a hashtag is set to Special, all messages tagged with it, including the original message in the topic and all replies, will be sent as Special Notices. Note: hashtags set to Special cannot be muted. Also, only moderators and owners can send Special Notices. If a normal subscriber replies, their message will be sent as a normal message. |

Re: db column types and sorting
If you make all numbers the same length and pad them with prefix zeroes where needed, they sort correctly. You might suggest the numeric type addition on the beta group.

Re: Members receiving post at different times
If any of the members have a setting other than Individual Messages for delivery, that would change their delivery time. Otherwise, their email service should have received it the same time yours did. I'd ask them to check the headers to see if they can find where the delay occurred.

Re: Copy group
No, each group is totally separate. Since there are so many settings in various places, I can see how you might overlook something. If I were going to try, I'd probably open each group in a separate tab in my browser and try to go page by page to make them match.

Members receiving post at different times
Our group has daily discussions led by a panelist. The panelist for today posted his topic this morning about 2:45 [Mountain]. Some of our members say that they didn't get it until this afternoon. I received it when it was sent. Does anyone have an idea what might cause this to happen? Thank you, |

Re: Yahoo now OATH
David P. Dillard
Not only to find AWOL members from their new home is a backup archive important, it adds insurance of retention of all your list's posts until the transfer and if you list has valuable content, this insures its content will not be permanently lost if adverse events occur on one of the archives. I have had such adverse events, so I am not writing from a hypothetical position here. One can even keep posting to the old archive all new posts to continue the backup.

Re: three yahoo groups to one GIO group?
#subgroups

That's how I was planning to organize it. I was mainly asking about transferring the Yahoogroups, with each groups' files/archive/etc.? Can it be done properly and automatically, or will I have to do anything special, or what, without scrambling/overwriting ? There shouldn't be any problem doing that as long as your groups don't use more total space than your allocated storage. |

You can also select the Messages view (instead of Topics) and enter the message number in the box at the upper right. It will be the first one on the results page. If I were going to combine them into one group, I'd set up the chat group as the main group and the other two as subgroups. Everyone would need to be a member of the main group before they could join a subgroup. There shouldn't be any problem doing that as long as your groups don't use more total space than your allocated storage.
