Login instructions can be found at?/static/help#password

In my experience, most people just continue to interact with each other via email; but they will have to log in if they want to download files, look at photo albums, respond to polls, RSVP to calendar events, etc.

Are you sure you targeted the correct Groups.io group? Another member of GMF reported that his transfer went to the wrong Groups.io group. I suspect user error, but maybe there's something more to it than that.

Have a look at other Groups.io group which you own and see if the content landed in the wrong group.

I went back to Yahoo and my group is gone......all the hundreds of pictures I worked hours and hours and hours are gone, as are all my contacts.?

I don't know what to tell you about the Yahoo Group. The transfer agent makes no changes to your Yahoo Group, so maybe that's just a glitch on Yahoo's end and your content will reappear. Or maybe you're signed out of Yahoo, or signed in with the wrong account?

Having moved my group successfully about 3 weeks ago, I can tell you that nothing at my old site is gone. I did have to resubmit the transfer because some photos didn't make it, but they were transferred on the second go around.

Good luck, but from my experience, I would say it will work out.

I got a very nice notice this afternoon that my transfer was done successfully! Whew! What a relief! I didn't know what to expect, so I was worried. Now I need to know, do my members just login to groups.io with their Yahoo id and password, or will they need to create a new one for IO groups?

Thanks for any help on this,

Re: Using BCC to Moderators

I got a message back from one of my Moderators and he said he hasn't received any of my test messages.

And just to be clear...what I was testing was BCC: All Moderators during the sending of a Member Notice. My groups have restricted membership and posts are never moderated, so I have not tested the same functionality in that context. I can't speak to what Yvette might have been doing at the time she first reported this. Very intrigued on this end as to what others will discover.

Cannot create subgroup #subgroups

I brought a few yahoogroups to groups.io last month and that is working well, including several subgroups.

I'm now working on setting up a new move with another yahoogroup.? After I setup the group, I went to create subgroup. When I hit add, a subgroup is not created.? I've refreshed.? Logged out and back in.? Does there need to be more members than just me on the main group before setting up subs?

Thanks so much, Tammi

Timing of calendar notices

In my group, calendar notices are sent when an event is listed in the calendar.? Is there a way to control WHEN the message is sent?? For a 7 PM event, reminders arrived at 7:30 PM.? Is there a way to have them sent earlier in the day?? A reminder after the event begins isn't very useful.? I can't seem to be able to locate setting for controlling the calendar.

Add an RSVP

You know you always have people who don't follow instructions...

Recently I add an event to our group's calendar with an RSVP on it. A couple people RSVP'd appropriately...but then you have those knuckleheads who couldn't follow directions with a bloodhound, and either called or texted me or verbally responded that they are coming to the event.?

Is there a way that a list owner or moderator can add RSVPs manually?? ?

Same here, apart from the "heavily" bit. The usual reason is a message rejection.

I don't know if it is "standard" or an Owner - settable function but on the Group I moderate I and the other Moderator get copies of all traffic sent to the Group Owner. When rejecting a message (or whatever) I never check Bcc Me and always check Bcc Moderators. When sending such a message I am acting for and on behalf of the Group Owner so I always send from the "Group "Owner" option.

As I always get a copy of my message back on my own email address I tend to assume that the others received it as well, but I will confirm next time I have to do it. It would be odd if it picked my address out to send to and didn't get the others as well.

I sent the invite, it's been accepted, and I've made the transfer address a moderator in my groups. When I go to the transfer page to click to give it the go ahead I get this message:

Before we can being the transfer, you must make the [email protected] user a moderator of your group. If you already have done so, please click the 'Give Go Ahead To Transfer' button again, as Yahoo can be flaky.
I suspect this message means that the transfer agent has not yet received email confirmation from Yahoo stating that its membership application has been accepted. You might be able to see that it has in the group itself, but if Yahoo is having their usual server problems...

I click again, and get the same message. When I check these two groups in .io I'm trying to transfer, it says "No Integrations". I don't want to click this a hundred times and muck up the works, lol. But should I keep trying until I don't get that message anymore? I'm assuming that since it says "No Integrations" that it's not going through.
The "integrations" line on your home page is for RSS feeds, linking with Facebook, etc (see Admin->Integrations). It has no bearing on the transfer process.

Thoughts? I tried this last night and again this morning. I know, I know, patience is a virtue, lol. I just want to be sure I'm not adding the same request a hundred times when it went through and I didn't know it.
I suggest waiting a couple of days. Given dash's recent report and yours, I suspect something may be up with Y!G again and it may take at least that long for things to sort themselves out.

Good luck,
Bruce

Editing message problem #issue

For some reason - a delay - the email looks fine now. Footers and URL in the body are all hyperlinked.
Odd, but not a problem.
If you haven't approved my message yet, please delete.

Thanks.

Editing message problem #issue

A group member sent a message with an incomplete URL. I had received the message through my mail.

I went to my group home and edited the message and fixed the URL. Then saved it. I had second thoughts and decided to go back and edit the message - actually just changed the reason for the change - and chose the other option: save and send it to the group members.

When I received the revised message in my email, the URL was not hyperlinked.
And oddly, neither were the footers.
Any explanation? Expected behaviour?

Frances

Are you sure you are logged in, at either Yahoo or here? Try logging out and logging back in again.

Did groups.io email you a summary? It should have told you how many members, messages, etc were transferred along with a list of those that it wasn't able to move. If you haven't received this transfer summary then the move is probably still underway.

Another possibility is that Yahoo itself had a massive system crash that lost all that information before the transfer agent even got there. In that case it's not surprising that nothing got moved. Based on your description of the symptoms, this seems like the most plausible explanation.

I am assuming here that you made the transfer agent a Moderator (NOT an Owner), and with view-only permissions (per the transfer instructions). With those permissions it is not possible for the agent to delete your Yahoo group content.?

If I were you, I would contact Yahoo and ask them where your group went. If they can restore it from a backup you should be able to submit your request to the transfer agent again.

Just some ideas,
Bruce

"Test messages" have a disconcerting way of getting headed off by spam filters. For that reason I'd appreciate it if someone else could confirm the behavior I'm seeing before I submit a bug report.

Thanks,

Re: Using BCC to Moderators

I'm sorry! I'm wondering if no one here has had that problem here before or if they are trying to figure it out? Are you doing a BCC directly from the group or from your own email program? I'm having the same problem at Yahoo groups. But I'm using a Yahoo email address and Incredimail. I don't know if it's Incredimail or another Yahoo issue. Whenever I BCC someone at the groups, like send an email to my main group and BCC several other groups, I get mailer daemon notices and my mail may or may not get to the ones I sent with BCC. Sometimes my mail will get to them and not my main group, so I have to resend to my main group. It's been one of the things at Yahoo that has been driving me nuts! This is the first I have heard anyone mention this, so I wonder if it might be the same or similar issue?

Re: A whole week?

Thanks so much! Last night on Yahoo I started getting mailer daemon notices again. This morning I had a few emails from groups, but hardly any compared to what I usually have this time of the morning.including no emails from the boards here, so I started getting suspicious that maybe something was being blocked, so came here to check for posts and replies, and found your reply. (By the way, I am learning so much from others here! Thank you! )?

In the directions for transferring it says; Step 2.? "Send an invite to your Yahoo Group to?[email protected]"
I did that.

Step 3." We will accept the invite and then send you an email directing you to make the?[email protected]?member a moderator."
It has accepted the invite but I got no notice from the group at Yahoo, which is strange and no email yet, directing me to make him a moderator. I made him a moderator anyway, just for something to do while waiting, but don't know what the moderator settings should be so am still waiting for that email. I don't want to mess this up, so will just wait I guess. I just hope Yahoo is not blocking it. I don't trust them. I know that if there is a mass Exodus from Yahoo this could take awhile. I wish I had done this before.
