Re: How to obtain a members email address

In general the regular "Directory"doesn't display email addresses but the Member List does, see Admin -> Members

Thanks for this Kevin, but what if the enquirer isn't a Group owner or moderator with access to <Admin>?

Re: Getting Logged-Out of Groups.io unexpectedly . . .

Thanx Shal & others . . .

That answers my question: It's an automatic, cookie-based, periodic log-out.

And to a couple of the other respondents: No, I didn't get any email notification. Nor did I did use a different device to access Group.io.

So Shal's response presents the most apt explanation based upon my log-out experience.

Much appreciated, All!

I sometimes see this, sometimes not. I think it might be due to browser caching.

Try refreshing the page (F5) after you delete the photo and see if that takes care of it.

Yes, it would. ?Deleting embedded photo is a pain in the rear.

It's in Account->Preferences->Items per Page.

And is there a way to set a group policy for either of those?
Not that I'm aware of.

Sharon,

?

You asked: What is ¡°normal.dotm¡±?

?

I don?t know if it has the same name in English speaking countries. And I hope I can translate and express this thing properly for I am not a technical expert, but I?ll try.

?

Normal.dotm is my basic document template which connects to all my word documents. M stands for "macro". Usually I formate this basic template normal.dot once, as far as line pitch, page distance, font and font size and colours are concerned. And every time I open an empty word page and start to write in it, my text will appear exactly as I have formatted my normal.dotm. This still doesn?t mean though, that if you receive a document from me, it will show on your screen exactly as it does on mine. The way you see it depend on your normal.dot and how you formatted it. I hope I could get this across understandably¡

A way to force/change images to attachments?

Group Moderator

On our group, pictures/flyers need to be sent as attachments. Often people forget, and/or send a forwarded email from their phone, and the attachment becomes an image in the message. Although we remind people all the time, and send back their posts to be redone, it's tedious.?
Is there a way to either have an auto-reject for messages with an embedded image so we don't have to do it, or a way to change that image to an attachment when it comes through? Any of those email settings?
And what exactly does "normalize HTML" mean?
Thanks, Mindy

Number of hashtags or members showing per page #hashtags

Southenders Admin

I know that I set my personal preference to show all 36 of my hashtags on one page, but I forgot how I made that happen. I am also wondering if I can increase the number of members showing on one page to 150.?

And is there a way to set a group policy for either of those?

Thanks

Using Groups.io Databases - Step by Step

My group, Nordhavn Owners Group (NOG), transferred over from Yahoo last February.? We have some members who are not always tech-savvy, so I prepared a three-page tutorial on how to create and update Groups.io database records.? It's specifically aimed at NOG, but I'm attaching it here (in .docx format) for anyone who might find it useful.? It's been shaken down on NOG and found to be reliable.? The only exceptions so far are members using the Safari browser are finding that they cannot update database?records, though they can create database records--an issue I've reported to Groups.io as a possible/probable bug.

Deleting Photos #photos

I have been deleting photos from my group and when I do, a 'blank' photo placeholder of 350 bytes is left. ?Is this normal? ?Is there another way to delete photos without getting the 'blank' photo and having to delete each photo twice?

Thanks

Yes, but all that proves is that you have active cookies on both. You still had to log on separately for each device.?

Re: Getting Logged-Out of Groups.io unexpectedly . . .

If you access the site on any device/browser combination that doesn't have an active cookie, you will not be logged in.

Bruce

Re: Getting Logged-Out of Groups.io unexpectedly . . .

Each browser/device will have a login cookie.? I use a desktop at home, but a laptop when traveling, so usually have to log in at my first stop on the road.? As long as you've logged in with each device/browser, that one will be fine for 30 days.? On most, you can have it remember your login information if you want, so very simple to log back in when needed.

I think the issue may be how he logged in. I have a password and my devices both know my password. Easy to create one!

Our membership application is a PDF fill-in form.

Thanks, Bruce. This might serve well for the application form. But we want the anemsis text to be visible inside a message for all members. Additionally we want to write our answers between the lines, this again visible for everybody. I am very happ groups.io offers html., so we can use text colours to differentiate between questions and answers.

?

Sharon told me that the formatting problem when copying a text into the message field was probably due to word. That was an important information for me, since I had assigned the problem to a potentially preformatted message field in groups.io.

?

So I searched for a solution and found one by altering the word normal.dotm.

And now my problem is solved.
