Just to verify, you did save the settings for your subscription?? The only other thing I can think of is that there may be a delay between the time you change it and when it kicks in.? Maybe try a few times through the day.? If you're still not getting them after a few hours, I'd send as much info as possible to support in case there's a glitch.

p.s. The issue has not been that the replies are not received. It's that, randomly, the pending members don't receive the Pending Subscription notice at all.

The address that was generated is:?

Any ideas why???

Did you check your subscription page to make sure you're set to receive owner emails?

Re: ERROR message: "That email address is already registered" #alias

I believe that, in this respect, GIO is intended to mimic the old listserv mailing lists. Unlike Y!G, in GIO your email address IS your user ID.

There are advantages to this, the main one being the ability to participate in groups without having to set up a separate GIO "account." While some may experience a few disadvantages, on the whole I prefer the GIO way.

Can you embed calendar into a web site

I¡¯ve been asked if we can embed our groups.io calendar into a web site. Do you know? Thank you. Tammi

Re: Pending subscription

Duane... you were right, it was only set to subscribers.? I did change it (see the attached).? However, I am still NOT receiving any emails sent to that email address (and nothing in my spam box).? Have tried it multiple times.? Any clues???

Steve

Re: Pending subscription

Check your subscription settings for Owner Emails on the group, down at the bottom, to make sure you're set to receive owner emails.? Since the person isn't a member yet, you'll want to receive All Emails to the owner address.? You may get a little spam now and then, but that would be the only setting you could use to get them.? As of now, they aren't shown/saved for non-members on the site, though it's been requested.

Re: Likes

Steve,

So if I "like" a message post, it shows that i've "liked" it; dumb
question probably, but where else is it reflected, ...
Not a dumb question. The answer is "nowhere".

And that's unfortunate. I don't think it was meant to be this way.

There are several ways I'd "like" to see those exposed, as part of the long-awaited "notifications overhaul" and as part of search improvements.

I'd like the ability to be notified when one of my posts is Liked.

As a moderator, or maybe even as a member, I might like to be notified when any post in my group is Liked.

I'd like to see "Is liked" as a Messages list filter. Also "Is liked by me". Maybe also "Is liked by [pick a member]".

Re: ERROR message: "That email address is already registered" #alias

Vern,

QUESTION #1: Why won't it let me define an alias to the
"me4bbb@..." email address (in my "me4aaa@..." account)?
Sounds like a good question to me. I guess because me4aaa and me4bbb could in principle both be subscribed to the same group, and then there would be an ambiguity as to which subscription's Posting Privileges to apply. That could be resolved by giving precedence always to the direct subscription over any aliases.

Which question brings up the related one: are you allowed to make an alias to me4ccc in me4bbb. And if so, what then happens to messages sent via me4ccc if both me4aaa and me4bbb have a subscription to that group?

13. I guess that I might be able to re-login as "me4bbb@...", and
re-JOIN the*"[email protected]
If while logged into me4bbb you unsubscribe from [email protected] then I think you may be allowed to use me4bbb as an alias. That's kind of reading between the lines and squinting here:

However:

QUESTION #2: Is there a better ... way to allow me to send emails
from *ANY* of my email addresses, and have them be recognized by
either of my subscribed GROUPS.IO groups?
Not that I know of. Any two, yes, via Alias, but not a larger number (I don't think you can have more than one Alias per account). The alias feature really wasn't intended for your use case.

Mark has stated an intention to "do something better" for managing multiple email addresses, but just what that that might be, or when it might happen I can't guess.

For now, it is far simpler to run all of your active subscriptions from a single email address.

QUESTION #3: What happens when the owner of a Yahoo group (I
belong to) referencing "me4ccc@..." transfers it to GROUPS.IO?
I think the transfer itself works fine. I don't think that the fact that me4ccc is used as an alias for other accounts will bollix anything.

However, it once again leaves you in the situation of having one group under a different login account than the others. And given that there is currently no means to merge two accounts, nor to move subscriptions from one account to another, you can only resolve it by re-subscribing to the group under the preferred address.

Which abandons your content in that group under the me4ccc account. Not good. One way to forestall that would be to consolidate your Y!Group memberships to a single email address while you still can (and before any more of your groups transfer).

I was kind of hoping that subscription moving and/or account merging would get implemented before a major influx of Yahoo Groups - precisely for this reason. Oh well.

ERROR message: "That email address is already registered" #alias

Regarding ERROR message: "That email address is already registered", received when trying to define alias email address for account.

BACKGROUND:? I have/had memberships in several Yahoo Groups.? Some of these Yahoo groups reference one of my email addresses, some Yahoo groups reference a different email address, and some even reference a third Email address.? But all of these Yahoo Groups referenced me as a single, common Yahoo-ID; so prior to recent migrations to GROUPS.IO, I could login as one Yahoo-ID to review and/or moderate any of these Yahoo groups.?? In reality, I have membership in over a hundred Yahoo Groups; and own or moderate several.

SAMPLE SCENARIO (to illustrate my concern with simplified group and email addresses):?
  1. Yahoo group "aaa" references my Email address "me4aaa@...".
  2. Yahoo group "bbb" references my Email address "me4bbb@...".
  3. Yahoo group "ccc" references my Email address "me4ccc@...".
  4. The owner of "aaa" transfers it to GROUPS.IO, automatically creating an "me4aaa@..." account for me.?
  5. The owner of "bbb" transfers it to GROUPS.IO, automatically creating an "me4bbb@..." account for me.?
  6. Due to the actions of the group owners, I now have two separate GROUPS.IO accounts; each subscribed to one of the transferred Yahoo groups.
  7. I login as "me4aaa@...", and can see the "aaa" group; and can send messages to it from "me4aaa@...".
  8. I login as "me4bbb@...", and can see the "bbb" group; and can send messages to it from "me4bbb@...".
  9. I would like to be able to post messages to "aaa" (for example) from ANY of my three email addresses.?
  10. So, I login as "me4aaa@...",...
  11. If I try to create an alias to "me4ccc@...", it works just fine; allowing me to post messages to "aaa" from either?"me4aaa@..." or "me4ccc@...".
  12. If I try to create an alias to "me4bbb@...", I get an ERROR message (i.e., "That email address is already registered").

QUESTION #1:? Why won't it let me define an alias to the "me4bbb@..." email address (in my "me4aaa@..." account)?? Since I thought that the purpose of aliases was to allow other inbound Email address to be recognized by the group; I don't see why (already registered) email addresses are blocked.? Is this to protect GROUPS.IO from some sort of a security vulnerability that I am unaware of?? ?PLEASE EXPLAIN???

  13. I guess that I might be able to re-login as "me4bbb@...", and re-JOIN the "[email protected]" group from that account; but that seems like a lot of work and wasteful, because (in the limiting case), I would need to have multiple memberships in nearly all of the groups I belong to.

QUESTION #2:? Is there a better (e.g., more-direct and/or non-wasteful,...) way to allow me to send emails from ANY of my email addresses, and have them be recognized by either of my subscribed GROUPS.IO groups?

QUESTION #3:? What happens when the owner of a Yahoo group (I belong to) referencing "me4ccc@..." transfers it to GROUPS.IO?

Respectfully,

... a new user

Re: bouncing

Margaret,

How do I know if any of my group members are bouncing without looking at each member entry?
?
Select the Bouncing list on your group's Members page.

That will give you a list of just the Bouncing and Bounced members.

Go to Admin > Members, click on the top left drop down box and select Bouncing to see only the bouncing members.? You can then click on any member line any place except the check box to see their subscription and do more in depth analysis if you want.

Re: Transferring a yahoo group in stages? #transfer

Jeff,

So if we do all but the last step of the transfer, how do we initiate the e-mail to all the users with the info on how to setup their account on ? Do I just run the transfer process again and simply just choose the last option?

I don't know if that would work. Being a separate transfer it might send only to the zero members copied in that round. Unless the mechanism keeps track of prior transfers between the same group pairs. Unless someone here has actually tried it, you may have to ask [email protected] what would happen.

I would say just post a special notice in either or both groups, and include the info you want. The only thing "special" about the content of the You have been added email is that it contains an opt-out link for those who don't want to be in the Groups.io group.

A difference is who receives it. That notice, and your group's Welcome Member Notice would go out to all of the copied members (but only the copied members) regardless of Email Delivery, something that's not quite true of a Special Notice. Also, a Special Notice goes into the group's Messages archive, whereas neither the You've been added nor the Welcome do.

Re: My own messages don't generate an email to me

Never mind. They showed up an hour and a half later. Since I had never seen that before on Groups.io, I thought maybe it was some feature I hadn't figured out. Grio works so well that when something goes awry, it seems so unusual I panic.?

Re: Simple question - is possible to print the Database Tables?

Michael Rickey (AF6FB)

I'm new to Groups.io and was just starting to look at the database capability. It would be nice to have a "Printable View" of the database. A view that removes the left nav and database controls. It would just print the column names and the data in a nicely formatted manner.

I see there is an Export option. This gives me a CSV format that I could bring into Excel/Google Sheets and use however I'd like. This is good enough for me.
