Good idea. The same could be done using Direct Add, if they choose to go that route.

SPF, Groups.io and Office365 Exchange Online
#split
We're seeing a lot more flagging by Office 365 Exchange online of SPF issues for emails that have traversed groups.io with users seeing messages such as this experienced in Outlook Online:
This sender failed our fraud detection checks and may not be who they appear to be. Microsoft did recently overhaul their anti spoofing tech this month? ?? Is it worth those of us who have control over our domains, have SPF set up for our mail hosts, and who send a fair amount of mail via groups.io adding an SPF include record for groups.io ? Will this actually make much difference? Just worrying that at some point emails will start being bounced, junked or blocked.? Posting here as searching the Help Center for SPF returns zero results, and newest comments on SPF in here seem to be quite a while ago.? |

Final Update: My group transfer was completed in about 2 days including transfer of the members and past emails.
Excellent and painless, I wish I'd done it sooner. Heartfelt thanks to Shal for his advice and for the work of the team at Groups.io! |

Disappearing highlighting
Ok, this is odd.
A member creates a new post on our groups.io site.? He copies and pastes into his post, text that includes highlighting--green and yellow. 1. The post on our groups.io site shows NO HIGHLIGHTING. 2. But the email that members receive from the groups.io site CONTAINS THE GREEN AND YELLOW HIGHLIGHTING. Explanation?? Something I need to do in the settings???? |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýYes. But here¡¯s an idea. You could make your group a ¡®premium group¡¯ for one month for $10, which would enable you to ¡®direct add¡¯ all the members (I.e., email addresses) you want to, without having to issue invitations and wait for acceptance. If you ask nicely, Mark may not even charge you the one-time fee, due to the unfortunate and unique circumstances. ??On Mar 19, 2018, at 1:55 AM, The Ingle family. <inglefamily@...> wrote:

Re: problems with cox.net accounts?
Not delivered; equivalent to disappearing into thin air. Not in the spam folder, or others. Cox.net addresses not bouncing as far as the groups.io website is concerned.
I'm fairly certain it's a Cox problem, but dealing with them is like shouting into an anechoic chamber. -Dave |

I think in the circumstances it is reasonable to conclude that on the balance of probabilities that the member concerned didn't mark the message as spam. Groups.io only sends emails to individuals who have voluntarily joined one or more Groups hosted by it; it thus seems highly unlikely that anyone receiving a Groups.io email would mark a message as spam, and that such a marking was therefore most likely done by the ESP. However Bruce Bowman's post revealed a flaw in the idea of spam reports triggering a default to web - only access rather than a deletion of membership, and on the face of it that flaw could be a show - stopper as far as this suggestion is concerned. Ah well... it was a good idea while it lasted, which wasn't very long. Chris |
Re: A few questions about transferring a group
Thank you for all your replies about this and apologies for the delay in my reply. It seems the two moderators (of which I am one) do not have the privileges that Shal and others say we will need to transfer the group. We are still trying to get access?for the group owner but just to be clear - from what you have said, if we can't do that we simply can't transfer the group. I'm presuming our only option would then be to start a new IO group and ask people to requestion to join. Am I correct? ? Best wishes Jill? |

Thanks for writing a first draft. I think we all could spend more of our time on something like that, rather than answering the same questions over and over again. |

jeff,
I see under Admin->Settings->Member Notices that you can add text to aNo, it is not. But that may be a good point. Perhaps the Subject text should be deliberately different to avoid confusion.
