The only idea I can come up with is to intentionally upload a file that puts you over your disk quota, thereby forcing the system to delete the old attachments. See Admin->Settings->Message

FWIW, I've noticed that my pending messages up to March 1 are shown as delivered in the individual Email Delivery History. After that date, new pending members do not have that shown on their Email

Or an even lower-tech solution would be to just put a link on your web page to the home page of your group. If you have a public group it should have a "Join This Group" button on it. Jonathan
