Re: List member permanently moderated status

I suspect there may a difference in understanding.? Have you checked the actual settings of one of the accounts in question on the Y!G?? I was on a group where everyone was moderated until after the first post, but it was all handled manually by the owner, rather than use the available functions.? You could change everyone that is M to NuM using the Members page and the Action box, but you'd need to be sure that no one was supposed to be M for some reason.

List member permanently moderated status

All,

I have transferred five lists this year; the last was the most challenging.? On the old list, new members were moderated until they had one post approved, supposedly.? Instead YG had changed hundreds of list members to Override-moderated and as such they were profiled on groups.io? None were transferred as new members moderated until approval of one post.? At this point I can just leave them permanently moderated or I can change them to default group.? I would really like to be able to moderate them the same as new members, until one approved post.? I'm helping out and was not a list member prior to the transfer, but although the list owners said new members were automatically moderated until the first approved post, that information did not show on the YG list membership or the new membership on groups.io

I kept my new group on restriction (as much as possible*) and did not permit anyone to join until the transfer was completed. I realize that advice is too late for you but perhaps the next person who has a large group to transfer will benefit.

Deleting single photo from album

How does one delete a single photo from an album?

Bulk Download of files

Is there a facility to download multiple files within the FILES section?

What I am looking for is a similar capability to the Checkbox/ACTIONS support provided on the ADMIN > MEMBERS page. This allows actions to be taken against multiple Members.

I was hoping there would be a similar Checkbox against a list of FILES, to enable multiple files to be downloaded, (or deleted?) at a time. This would be _very_ handy for backup purposes.

Have I missed something? Or has such a requirement already been suggested? (I have searched but not come up with anything.) Seems odd that we can upload multiple files at a time, but only download one at a time

Thanks for any advice.

Brian.

Invitations to join

Michael Buckley

Please excuse me4, but I am new to all this.

I "own" a couple of groups, how do I invite anybody to join them?? I know I can list all the emails of specific people and they will all get a specific request, but that is time consuming as each has to be individually typed.

Is there not some way to just broadcast " if you want to join, go to:? Groups.io" and then a pointer to the specific group?

I would also like to put this link on a web site - can I?

Thanks

Mike

Don't delete the yahoo group, put it to moderate all messages and restricted membership, change the group description.
Once a month download member list and archive (messages) from your io group. The "Download Archives" button is in Settings, right-click it and choose Save.
Also, keep messages you receive via email.

Thank you re: Norton Issue

Thank you so much to everyone who gave advice regarding the problem I had with a Norton alert.? I am confident that the site is safe and that this was just a false alarm.? In one of the threads, I was asked for clarification about my comment that I was not able to reach "support" at groups.io.? On the main website, it is posted that for problems or questions to send an email to [email protected]? This, according to my email provider, is not a legitimate email address, so my posts were all returned as "undeliverable".

Thanks again.? I'm sure that my neighborhood will be much happier with groups.io than they have been with Yahoo.

Because of limitations on Y!, the transfer can take some time, especially with a lot of messages.? You might want to take a look at the thread /g/GroupManagersForum/topic/13367649 and especially post /g/GroupManagersForum/message/5483? You should be notified when the transfer is complete, including a report of issues found.

Start to Finish Message Transfer

Al Silverstein

I noticed that the transfer of one of my lists from Yahoo Groups to groups.io has started.

I have not received a email indicating that the transfer took, or is taking place.

It appears that all of the active memberships have been transferred.

It appears that all of the files and photos have been transferred.

What does not to have been completed is a transfer of all of the messages. According to the message count on the Yahoo Groups list there should be a little over 212,000 messages. On the Groups.io list there is a little over 29,000 messages.

My question is how long should I wait before querying [email protected] about the missing 183,000 messages?

Al

Groups.io site updates #changelog

Edited

Hi all,

This week's change log:

Feel free to reply to this topic if you'd like to comment on the
changes. Or better yet, if you expect a lot of discussion start a new
topic (or rejoin an existing one) about a specific change.

NEW: When a user changes their email address to an address taken by an
account with no subs (or subbed just to updates@), we now let them
take over that email address.
This might in some circumstances help with individuals who by accident, or by transfer from Yahoo Groups, end up subscribed to groups under more than one email address but would prefer to use only one. They still can't directly merge those accounts, but at least they now can move valuable memberships (ones that would be hard to re-subscribe, or where you don't want to lose content control) to the preferred address; even if at the cost of first unsubscribing all the other memberships tied to the preferred address.

NEW: 'All Posts By This Member' in group profile pages.
Nice. I like not having to track down one of their messages first.

NEW: Moderators can now change members' email addresses.
Important phrase missing: "In Premium groups ...". Also other caveats:
/g/GroupManagersForum/message/5508

CHANGE: More updates to the Yahoo Group transfer process after I
learned that many groups do not accept -subscribe email requests.
Those would be what were called "Closed" groups in classic, in Neo that's "By invitation only" in the Who can Join selector of the Group Settings tab of the Control Panel.

Comments about these others are also welcome:

CHANGE: Removed the list of public subgroups from the group home page,
as it's a duplicate of what is shown in the Subgroups tab (which
also has a better display of them).
CHANGE: Added more 'Sent from my ' lines to automatically strip.
SYSADMIN: Upgraded the second web server for more capacity.
SYSADMIN: Moved one of the two Groups.io DNS servers to a different
data center, for redundancy in case our main data center goes
off-line.
INTERNAL: Moved the final part of the system, messages to karld, off
the Redis-based queue and onto a nsq-based queue.
BUGFIX: I mispeled the word committed in several places.
SYSADMIN: Upgraded the backup database instance to double the
memory/disk because we ran out of disk.
BUGFIX: There was a deadlock when two users viewed the same group
calendar at the same time.
BUGFIX: Editing one event in a repeating event series created extra
events.
NEW: When a user changes their email address to an address taken by an
account with no subs (or subbed just to updates@), we now let them
take over that email address.
NEW: Moderators can now edit members' signatures.

Please call out any you find significant.
