Re: Can't get to my group site
Both my group page and the status page are fine for me... I use Kaspersky Internet Security and it is usually pretty touchy, but it is OK with groups.io.

Well, the status page is being blocked as well.?
?
What if it's not wrong?? What are the odds of two independent virus groups getting it wrong at the same time?

Inquiring minds wanna know....

Thanks,

Paul,
From the Status page: You may have to wait a while, given that it's Friday maybe next week. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |
Re: Can't get to my group site
Duane, Any chance that you could tell us what is in the emails? I can't access the site because of the Norton Block and don't want to whitelist until there is a reason given for this problem. Thanks, Paul, Ohio, USA

Default Group Settings
When I add new members to the group the advanced settings is set to default settings.? Default settings do not allow for people to post, so I have to pick over ride moderation even though we don't moderate posts.
I can't find where you can change the Advanced settings or default group settings. I am very new to this group system, I ran a yahoo group for years. Thanks! |

Re: Can't get to my group site
Matt,
What if it's not wrong? What are the odds of two independent virusIt's more than two, and apparently pretty good. Maybe they rely on the same underlying sources. The complaint from Microsoft Edge appears to be based on user reports. I've put in my counter-vote. Hmm... Either they've taken it down or it somehow popped up on my work machine but not my home machine. But theirs doesn't (didn't) claim a virus infection, just a "phishing threat" - Groups.io might be impersonating some other site. Inquiring minds wanna know....Read the beta thread. But I guess you'll have to unblock the site to do that. FWIW neither of my machines has had any AV type warning about Groups.io, but both use Microsoft Defender, not Avast, Symantic/Norton, AVG or others. Cleared cache. Updated Avast to ensure very latest definitions. Refreshed . Got the same warning from Avast.

At this time McAfee is NOT reporting groups.io as a phishing site. Bruce |

Wiki Search?
#notworking
Anyone having trouble with the search function in the Wiki? We're getting blank returns most of the time, regardless of the search term. Once in a while a partial return (incomplete) pops back. Only noticed it earlier today and still problematic. |
Re: Bug in Groups.io?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýPaul,
Ah yes, the cat photos. Earlier the site had been
entirely offline due to an outage at Groups.io's hosting
service. Their other customers' sites were down as well.
Yup. Quite a few similar reports.
Most likely an unfortunate coincidence with the outage.
Probably not a coincidence with the high rate of Y!Group
transfers, but that's just a suspicion on my part.

Yes, the topic is still taking reports:

More information on phishing malware reports
At least one of my users is getting a "phishing site" alert from Norton Internet Security (in addition to the AVG reported earlier). Below are details:
=== Begin Norton report === Threat Report Phishing Attacks Threats found: 1 Here is a complete list: (for more information about a specific threat, click on the Threat Name below) Location: /g/OHRegionB/message/1538 === End Norton report === I wonder if this OHRegionB group might have been migrated from Yahoo recently? I had a hard time notifying all our members of our recent [yesterday's] move since many were set on "no email." Then we had the obfuscated domain name problem that I reported earlier this morning. Throw in the fact that those who tried to reach the site during system maintenance were confronted with a cat photo and it's not too surprising that some of them might freak. I personally thought the cat photos were amusing, but Mark et al may want to apply more discretion with displaying their whimsy in the future. Hope this helps, Bruce Bowman -- Sent from my humble desktop computer |

Hi Shal & All, About 2:00PM EST USA when trying to access my groups I got this: I didn't have time then to do any research into this and just got back on line. Now I'm getting blocked by Norton.? This is the "Full Report" Any ideas or can I find out more? Paul, Ohio, USA

Margaret, A colleague has had a message from her AVG software to say that has been infected with the URL:Mal bug. I very much doubt it is true. There have been other reports in a thread in beta: I'm not planning to hold up any of the three group transfers I'm in line for, I'm sure Mark is working to understand the cause of these reports and correct it. I linked to your posting there so Mark might contact you to get any additional information you might have.? Shal |
