Re: changing members name as a mod with privilages
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI think that they have to do it themselves. If they're unable to do it, you can ask them to send you an email me a login link, then you would be able to just go in and just change their entire profile to say that name, and then they would automatically be listed on all of their groups. Then you can request an email me a login link for your own account when you're done messing with their account. I think that would honestly be the best situation in all cases.

Re: changing members name as a mod with privilages
Hi all,
?
I just decided to test making someone a moderator. My test group has one subgroup.
I gave all permissions as moderator to my other email address.
However under Admin, I could not see Members. I could get to it from Subgroups, Members.
And when I clicked on a group member from that list, it just flipped to the group home page.
?
Can someone else test this please? Very odd.

changing members name as a mod with privilages
Hello all First I need to apologize to Ms. Frances for misleading in how I worded my outcome. ? I did contact Mark Fletcher, I contacted the person who created the group and sub groups that I am speaking of. There are 2 sub groups that I need to change the display name of a troubled member as it is a sensitive matter. ? I have been up all night trying to figure it out, I have been applying all the wonderful hints and tips but to no avail. I am wondering if the member has to go in to that one group and make the changes herself, which is very disappointing because use to be that I as mod or owner was able to do this for my members. Especially if they are less savvy than I. ? I contacted the host of the group and I did let him know that maybe he has to set the settings where mods can make these small changes upon request, which I have no problems doing, if I can help a fellow member. Since that is not happening at the moment, I am still stuck and feeling helpless when it comes to assisting my members. ? All I need and wish to know is, is this a possibility? Or does that member have to go in to the group site and make the changes themselves. ? ´¡²Ô»å¡ Why has this feature changed? Or is it just me ? Sorry, just feeling so lost here and hopeless. ? Again Frances, I ask for? your forgiveness, humbly. ? Sugar ? |

Sugar's problem is solved. She needed her moderator status beefing up.
?
She wrote: ?"I was on the phone with the owner of the groups I help and we got it figured out. He now gave me permission to do what I need to to help the group run more smoothly."
?
Glad all is well, Sugar.

Re: Bouncing
Thanks for all your help. The user just let me know that he followed the bounce-notice instructions and sent him a message saying he has been unbounced. I'll believe it for sure when he starts receiving postings, but won't post back here unless his account bounces again after?new postings arrive. -P. Hi Sugar,
?
I believe you are trying to change the Display Name for individual group members. Not the User Name. (As owner, I can only change my own, not other people's User Name.)
?
As a sighted-person, I go to Admin, Members to find the member's . (Or use the search box.) Click on the members' entry. And then change the first item Display Name. Scroll down to Save.
?
However, I can also go to the person's latest post in the group messages. There is a dropdown menu and choose Member Page. I can change the Display Name there.
?
Anyone with a recommendation for Sugar on achieving this. I believe she uses JAWS for screen reading.

changing members name as a mod with privilages
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi all Several times I have been asked to change a members name. I don¡¯t know how to do this any more Use to be that I could just enter on the name, hear ¡°edit¡± and I would be able to do this. Now I don¡¯t hear the ¡°edit¡± option to do this So can someone instruct me on how to change members name? Or if it could be the way it was before any changes, if any? Sorry. Use to be simple to do not it¡¯s a bit challenging for some of us who are not as ¡°savvy¡±/ Thanks Sugar |

So will the 3-day bounce probe re-enable the user's account if it has stopped?bouncing?Sending a bounce probe does not removing the bouncing state from a member's account. Re: Bouncing
Yes, it did occur to me that maybe there?was?a transcription error in entering the?new?e-dress, but you inspired me to test more rigorously. I copied the address from an email the user sent me into one file and I copied the offending address from into another file and did a diff. The files are identical, so now I can say "No, it's not possible that I typed in the incorrect email address".?? ? You are right that the B for bounce is blue, not green as I had thought. So will the 3-day bounce probe re-enable the user's account if it has stopped?bouncing? The user's new email address is a? brand-new one for him, so it's possible all the downstream-facing protonmail infrastructure updating wasn't yet complete. -P. Re: Bouncing
Bouncing members have either a red B (¡°Bounced¡±¡ªthe system received no response to any bounce notification messages, or bounce probes, for 15 days) or a blue B (¡°Bouncing¡±¡ªthe system is sending bounce probes every 3 days).
?
?
Is It possible that you typed in the incorrect email address when you changed his email address for him?

I believe this means the address was flagged for reverification but never completed the process. Given that the Owners Manual predates reverification, that stands to reason. You might try searching GMF instead. ?

Re: Inactive user
#directadd
Inactive User means the account has been disabled by Groups.io management.? The most common reason recently is an account that was never verified last year, so they're still considered RI.? If that's it, they can log into the account to clear it up.? It can also be because the account was found to be a spammer/hacker by Mark, so he shut it down.

Inactive user
#directadd
Hello
?
When trying to add some email addresses with Direct Add, we got a few errors including some email addresses flagged as "inactive user"
I've done a search for this term in the Group Owners Manual but got zero hits. So I'm at a complete loss as to what this indicates exactly. ?
Can anyone fill me in please?
Thanks |

Also, don't delete your old email address before you create your new one in case you have problems. That's not needed as long as you change the address.? It's only a problem if you try to merge a new address with an old one.
