Group settings are at Admin=>Preferences=>Settings now.

The UI was updated several months ago and the docs have not [yet] caught up. It's been a little frustrating, especially when the menu system is involved.

Thank you Duane.
I had studied the Owners Manual and did not understand this.

Should it be here?? This picture shows the 'green' button I have for files but members do not seem to have the button...

John -- I suspect this button may have disappeared last year, after you asked a question about "moderating" file activity (/g/GroupManagersForum/topic/98759128#msg43868).
?
Please note that if you permit regular subscribers to upload files, they will subsequently be able to delete their own uploads. There is no provision within groups.io to keep people from deleting their own content.

Members no longer able to upload files ? Do not the the "Green" button

Hello our group has a premium plan but I just learned today that members do not see the "green button" for uploading files in the file section.
?
I still see it and did not realize there is a problem.
?
Our account is up to date and we have a premium plan and are nowhere near the max storage limits.
?
Any suggestions?? I have been searching "upload" in the message archive and have checked "owners manual"?
?
Thank you?

Clicking on the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of an email takes you to the Groups.io website where it gives you options to change your subscription settings, Cancel or definitely confirm that you want to leave a group.? So, it has to be a positive action to leave and I would say it's extremely difficult and unlikely that the whole process could be done accidentally.

Re: Members being erroneously unsubscribed

For what it is worth, I have also had this happen periodically with various members. Not often, but enough for me to notice. I have always assumed that they accidentally clicked on the Unsubscribe at the bottom of an email.

Re: Members being erroneously unsubscribed

(Followup) I see that you're correct that clicking the? unsubscribe link in the footer, and confirming they want to leave the group, does result in the "left via web" log entry.
?
Still, it seems unlikely that a reasonably tech-savvy person would go through all of that inadvertently. I'll do some more digging.

Re: Members being erroneously unsubscribed

Its curious that you appear to be the only one having this problem

Are you absolutely sure they are not doing something themselves?

Such as clicking unsubscribe at the foot of each post, thinking its unsubscribing from that thread or topic? (instead of mute this topic)

Otherwise why are no others reporting the same problem?

Re: Members being erroneously unsubscribed

Indeed so Pete. In this case I suspect (but can't be sure) that the issue is with an account/address which which was put into the RI state and never actually Reverified, and finally, for whatever reason, has been removed from the system.

best, Malcolm.

Even simpler (and strongly recommended in all cases), is to register yourself as a co-owner using a secondary email address such as from Google, Yahoo, Zoho or whomever. Good preventive measure for all kinds of problems.

Has anyone else seen this? I've had a number of members who were somehow unsubscribed through no intervention of their own, nor by any of the moderators. Yesterday it happened again. You have been unsubscribed from [email protected]. You will receive no more emails from that group. If this was a mistake, you can resume your subscription within the next 7 days by clicking the following link:

Burt -- Losing ownerships that were previously held under the now-abandoned email address is a known bug that .?As far as I know, it was never repaired ...only an "Important" comment placed in the docs.
?
Your subscriptions should have transferred to the new address, though. Are you sure you're logged in? Did you complete the process, as Andy said?
?
If the subscriptions were really lost, you should be able to re-subscribe to the same groups under the new address. Then have your co-owner make you an owner again (change the "Role" field in your subscription record). Generally speaking, I recommend doing this anyway, instead of using the "merge" or "change email" functions.
?
If you didn't assign a co-owner to these groups beforehand (always a mistake), you will have to send an email to [email protected] explaining that this event left these groups ownerless and ask Mark Fletcher promote you back to owner.
?
Hope this helps,
Bruce

The merge process documentation also states that you have to respond to the email confirmation that was sent to the new account. Did you do that?

There are known problems when you merge accounts.? If you had actually changed your email address, things would have been fine.? The only thing you can do now is contact [email protected] to see if they'll help.? Be sure to include all the details you can.
