Getting messages with a specific hashtag when your settings are daily digest notification

Hello
I have a question from our programmer about GroupsIO. He has configured GroupsIO to send him individual messages with an #Escalate tag that we have created but... ?
"I still get no email notifications for messages marked with the #Escalate hashtag. I guess is not configured internally to send such notifications if I configure my account to send daily digests instead of individual messages. If you can ask the support why that is, it would be greatly appreciated"
?
Can anyway answer his question please?
Thanks and a Happy New Year to you all Dave Neve (SafeTex) |

I didn't notice that the first letter of one of the two usernames was capitalized. This led me to look closer at both email addresses and sure enough, one was slightly different. The issue was being compounded by my iPad's tendency to auto-sign in with the wrong ID. I'm using it with the which is excellent, but sometimes it will auto-fill a saved login incorrectly when it is similar enough to another saved one.

Thanks for your assistance, everyone.
I wish you the best for the coming year :) |

this really seems like some user error and there¡¯s two users.? ?
when you logged in on the pad and it first happened, were the email address and pw auto-filled or did you manually enter them? ?possibly there are two email addresses - the incorrect account being one character typo off of the other?
Verify the email addresses used on all devices when signed in. ?Send a message from the user profile page on all devices.? ?
when signed in on a ¡°good¡± device, make some inconsequential change to your owner account and save it. It¡¯s somevsnafu perhaps that will reset things and the ipad sign in will get to the correct account - MAKE SURE you log out and loge back in with the correct credentials.? |

You likely logged in as a new member with a different email address on your iPad and that is the one you are seeing under ¡°Members¡± list. Your original membership, the one as owner, is still there in the ¡°Members¡± list (keep scrolling) and that¡¯s the one your phone and PC sign you in. At the last software update, my iPad erased my saved sign-in IDs and I had to sign-in again to Groups.io. When in your group on your iPad, click on your name at the top right and check which email address you¡¯re signed in with. You¡¯ll likely see that it is not the one you used originally. Log out and sign in with the original email address and password. If you don¡¯t remember what email address you¡¯re signed in as an owner, go check on your PC or phone.
?
?I have created a member only account for the group I own/moderate because I find it useful to see what the members see and don¡¯t see. When I come back later to groups.io, my iPad signs me in with the last email account I used so I have to log out and sign in again with the correct one.

Retrodial,
Make 100% sure you are using the SAME login name/email address for both devices/browsers...? I have a co-owner of one of my groups that ran into this and he had somehow used a slightly different login...? One where he was a full Owner and one was a basic User...? His logins were the same except one was @yahoo.com and the other was @ymail.com...? At first glance, we didn't see the difference until we searched members by name...? When we did that we noticed he did have two logins...
?
If that doesn't find the problem, I'd suggest bumping the "New Member" to "Owner"...? ?Then do a listing of Members and select Moderators to see who all are Moderators and Owners...? Again carefully examine the email addresses for differences...
?
Happy Holidays and I hope this helps...

Can't Sign In as Admin on an iPad

I'm owner/admin of a free legacy group that I started a few years ago. I recently started experiencing a strange problem when trying to manage the group using my iPad. When I log in, my group shows me as an ordinary member & there is no Admin area shown (yes, I am logged in with the correct username & password). I have the same problem in both Firefox or Safari. Clearing the history in either browser and logging out and back in does not correct the problem.
?
When I first ran into this, I noticed the option on my group's home page asking me if I "Wanted to Join". I clicked on that and then it indicated that I was a member. At that point I received a new member welcome message. I also received a message on my phone (as Admin) showing my username as a "new subscriber" that had just joined my own group!
?
While logged in on my PC or Android phone, everything looks normal as a group owner. I have access to the usual Admin functions, but my username now shows up under "Members" as a "New Member Moderated". I'm afraid to delete this, or even log out on my phone or PC, as I'm concerned that I might become locked out of my group as owner/admin.

Does anyone know what's going on ????

Re: Sent Invitations sort order
The Sent Invitations can be sorted by name/email address, date of invitation or status. If you sort by date of invitation and someone has accepted the invitation it will be sorted by the invitation date, but the date shown will be the date of acceptance. So if you invited someone on the 7th and then another person on the 8th and the first person accepted on the 9th, their listing will show the 9th, but they will be listed prior to the person from the 8th. Also if you resend an invitation the sort position stays at the original invitation date, but the date shown is the most recent invitation date, but the sort position remains as that or the original invitation. So sometimes things can appear a bit jumbled.

Note in the sorted view the most recent transactions are in the 1st and 4th positions, separated by Accepted and Expired entries from days or weeks in the past. In my own account, the invitees are in alphabetical order by email address.
Note that I clean up my list periodically and just keep those that have not responded. I delete Accepted email addresses by clicking Cancel/Remove Invite from the dropdown menu. It doesn't delete their acceptance, just tidies this up. (I think that a better word than Remove could be used but I am not sure what. Perhaps a note?) ?

Attached are two screenshots, showing the default view and after clicking the "Invited" column header twice (the first time sorts oldest first).

Re: Online Safety Act (UK)
A blog came my way to alert me to this, which in turn pointed me at (headline title: Does the Online Safety Act apply to your service?); ; and ("a layperson's summary...")
?
My own thought - based on a quick read - is that on groups.io, for most, smallish, groups, with restricted membership and and based on specialist interest, normal 'good practice' moderation will probably be enough. More generally, I suspect groups.io (i.e. Mark:? it wasn't clear to me whether it is the overall service, or individual groups, that should be concerned) need to be aware (and hopefully are) - as Duane said it 'has procedures in place, and part of the TOS, that cover illegal activities.' which should put it in a good starting point.?
