Re: does anyone have a spell checker

I would recommend Wordweb:
?
The free version works just fine for me on a PC. Can be used anywhere - just highlight the text and press Ctl+Alt+W. I'd be lost without it. (No reliance on different spell check support in different applications.)

This could be possible if you have messages sent to an address which
is not associated with a GIO account and that group. You would see the
notification, but replying from that forwarded address would do
nothing. I'm just mentioning this in case this is your source of
trouble.

Checking the activity log should tell you more.

Half or more of our members use email for posting and reading
messages. Most email programs feature a built-in spell checker. I can
turn mine off or let it check my message over before it gets sent. I
use Forte Agent email/newsgroup reader.

I tend to use Microsoft word as I write all of my emails there and copy paste. I love word's spell checker.

Surely it would only be of any use if anyone posts using the groups.io site?

No one in my groups does so, and there are a multitude of different emailers people use

I use the one built into Edge, although at some point I intend to return to Firefox.

How many people are "we"? Or to put it another way, how many people are unable to moderate by email? Is it perhaps the "royal we"? If it is the royal we are you trying to pass messages by sending from the wrong email address?? It seems improbable that more than one person would slip up that way at the same time.?

As Andy Wedge suggested a look at the Activity log might provide an answer, or at least point towards one.

I've just tested this on one of my subgroups and it's working fine.? Have you checked your Activity Log to see what it say in there?? Has a Mod edited the pending message to claim it? If so, you cannot approve it by email then.

Approving messages via email reply doesn't work anymore

Hi everyone, we are experiencing a strange behavior, that started last week. We can't seem to approve messages anymore via email. We are receiving the notification to approve the messages, but once we reply, the message doesn't go through. Anyone has any ideas on what might cause this?
?
Thank you!

Re: Reviewing member applications prior to approval

If you have a restricted group, you can use Pending Subscription Notice.

Reviewing member applications prior to approval

Is there any way to require submission of a approval request prior to approve into a group?

I can see the Extra fields on the member's page.? It's possible to have them hidden from the users.? If you've set the field to be required, it's only effective going forward.? You'd have to enter something for existing members.

Re: Extra member data

Make sure you click the "Viewable In A Member's Profile" box for each field (column) you add. Then you can and the member can fill in the field in their profile.

Extra member data

Hello
?
I needed to add a column to the extra member data and I've managed to do this
?

My problem is that I cannot find a way for me or members to go back into their profile to now answer the question
?
Even if this is not possible for them, can the moderators somehow fill in this info on behalf of members?
?
Thanks

Mod's note: added the "member data" to the subject

Still possible, albeit with a bit of work.

Decide on the order in which you want the photos, and then number them 01: 02: 03: and so on. Not a perfect solution because it is vulnerable to individual members not having the correct selection of "display order".??
?
If it was up to me owners would have the option of forcing a specific display order irrespective of any "member selection".

Re: Nesting Photo Albums, Photo Album 'sorting', and more...

Back in the day when I was using Y Groups, they had one function with photo albums I liked that Groups does not. They had a way to reorder pictures in an album any way a person would want them, no matter what they were named, posted, taken, or uploaded. I kind of miss that.

Re: Link to page on the app?

I can not say for certain, but the phone receives many signals all of
the time. Since I wear blue tooth equiped hearing aids I hear all sorts
of beps and sips, and am sure that our cell phones are hearing these
things too, and sometimes reacting to them. Try shutting bluetooth off
and see if that helps. You may even want to test shutting wifi off to
see what happens.

Just my thoughts.... ET
