I assume they are no longer members of your group since it is board-only and they are no longer on the board.
Check your Admin, Members. If they shouldn't be members, remove them.
However, make sure that you have two on-going owners to replace any original owners you remove.
Note:?Moderators cannot change the roles of owners.
Get current owners to promote new owners from the current board, if necessary.
You might also ask the "old" members to remove themselves since they are no longer board members. Double-check though after a couple of days!?
?
I also assume that the Board group is restricted and the messages are only open to group members. From the help:
Do you want the archive of your group¡¯s messages to be visible to the general public and to internet search engines?
If yes, select a visibility option that ends with ¡°publicly viewable messages.¡± If no, select a visibility option that ends with ¡°private messages.¡± A private archive is visible only to members of the group, whereas a public archive is visible to anyone in the world who finds the URL of the group¡¯s website. GroupManagersForum is an example of a group that has a public archive.
! Important: If you select a ¡°private messages¡± visibility option, you cannot change it later to a ¡°publicly viewable messages¡± option. The ¡°private messages¡± setting is not reversible. You can later change a public message archive to a private one, but you cannot change a private message archive to a public one. Therefore, at this stage, you must be certain about the visibility that you want your group¡¯s archive to have.
?
If all that is taken care of, there shouldn't be any problems. At least not that I can see.?

I wonder what email client she is using, what internet service provider.?
Sounds like it is one of those that are giving her the alert.?
Or even if your member reads it on her phone, even her phone software or computer operating system?

A member is receiving an error message: senders ID can't be verifire

I received this email from one of our members:

?

"For the last few days all messages from this group have come with a warning that the senders ID can¡¯t be verified."

?

I have not received this email nor have I heard from anyone else in our group about receiving? an email like this.?

?

What should we check?

Thanks,

Paula?

Well, that's debatable :-) But if Mark and the majority of users think that polls are sort of messages, that's OK.
Thank you for the explanation,

Keep in mind that there are a LOT of variables - your location, your ISP, site server location, etc.? One thing you can try is using .? That bypasses the browser cache and loads from the server.? You could also try using to see if you can tell where the delay is.? Remember that 'local' sites can be much faster than a 'remote' site.
?
When I try to think about it, I get a headache and it boggles my mind that it even works at all!

I'm not certain either way. Some months ago I had a lot of trouble with Firefox for exactly the reason that the OP stated. As far as I could tell no other sites were affected, and it seemed to be a "long term" problem.
?
As a result I changed to using Edge and normal service was resumed. However, in the last week there have been occasions when Groups.io has almost ground to a halt, but the problem has been more short term (i.e. a few minutes) so I didn't investigate further, such as trying FF again or clearing cookies and so on.
?
In both cases I was running Windows 10 on a desktop. So far everything has been OK this morning (UK time)

Re: Groups.io very slow to load

Hi Peter

I would say there isn't a problem with groups.io and more likely to do with your system/email client/isp or??

I also use Firefox and groups.io is working fine for me
(windows 11)

Do you clear cache & cookies?

No problems here using Firefox.? Do you have any browser add-ons enabled that could be interfering with it? Have you tried using Firefox in safe mode? Have you tried any other browsers?

No apparent rhyme nor reason.
I've seen this happen with Tbird as well, I have it set to HTML for new messages but sometimes when I compose a small 3-4 line message to beta without any graphics or such, when the message returns to me it's formatted as plain text (due to the footer style it has), yet other times it isn't, no clue why.

Now there is something I didn't know I could do with the Messages tab. Very easy to find all the polls.

That's fine - if necessary - but you need to understand the risks involved. This is the main one.

But I have "mask email addresses in archive" set. ?
This helps, although they are masked for non-members anyway. Note that email addresses will still show up in outgoing group emails.

And in visibility I have "group not listed in directory, private messages". ?Does that make the archive private???
Yes, it does.

I also have Restricted Membership, so people can't join without approval. ?
That's good. Note that you cannot make the Member List available unless your group is Restricted.

So I don't think anyone has joined and then stolen email addresses.
I hope not, but realize that by sharing the Member List you've made it convenient for them do to so. Exercise due caution in vetting of new members and check existing members for anyone that looks suspicious.
?
As previously mentioned by others, it's also possible that one [or more] of your members has had their contacts list stolen. There's nothing you can do about that.
?
Good luck,
Bruce

If that is the case about plain text then I could see how the images get haphazardly (presumably) attached as files after the message.?

Thanks. ?I have Member List Visibility set to Members because people want to be able to see the list. ?But I have "mask email addresses in archive" set. ?And in visibility I have "group not listed in directory, private messages". ?Does that make the archive private? ?I can't find a setting to make the archive private.

?
Also, I did get one of the malicious emails and when I asked the person it was purportedly from, she said she had received the same message. ?So it's possible that one member's private email account was hacked and all the rest of the people who are getting these emails are in that person's contact list.
?
If this is not happening to other groups.io email lists then the problem is clearly not with groups.io.
?
Thanks,

Re: Pictures placed in messages end up bunched up at bottom of message

Marilyn
?
That occurs because you are attaching a FILE (which just happens to be an image file.) ?Just like attaching a PDF or XLS, the file is placed separate from the message body itself.?
?
Using the insert image tool **should** place (embed) the image where your cursor is located.?

Re: How to send poll results to the group (in a simple way) #howto #polls

Also, though they might be able to use software to decode an image to
text and have it read to them, it requires extra effort on their part
and even then, the whole image to text translation thing might get
really botched up in the translation.

Then again, they might even not realize there's an image to decode.
