Re: Why the Polls section isn't named Polls?

Actually, a Polls section apparently exists. it's just hidden. If you click on New Poll, at the top of the next page there is a Polls link, which takes you to a page with a list of polls completed or in progress.
I appreciate your suggestions, but I still wonder why Polls are not entitled to a proper section, linked in the menu. They are no less important than chats or Files or databases.

If you are not using hashtags and you want to see past poles, go to Messages and type Poll into the search field. That will bring up all polls and any discussions relating to the different polls.

Group Reaches 80% of Storage Space

I want to ask about the 80% storage limit. In a group I co-own -- a limited legacy group (joined December 2020) -- we are currently up to 86% of the storage limit for attachments. I have not received any notification from Groups.io. By the way, I had suggested to the other owner (the original owner) we start culling older attachments when we got close to 80% but he insisted we not do that. I have the group set to bounce attachments when we reach the limit. That isn't happening either. In just this past week the original owner has sent messages with almost 35 MB in attachments. That took us from 83% of our storage limit to our current 86%.

When can we expect action to be taken by Groups.io?

The easy way to find past polls is to click on #Hashtags on the left hand side of the UI then click on the "Poll" hashtag in the list that appears.

Why the Polls section isn't named Polls?
#polls
I noticed that, unlike the other sections (Files, Databases, Photos, Chats...), the Polls section is indicated as New Poll.
If you want to go to the Polls section and see archived or still open polls, you need to click on New Poll (even if you don't want to start one).

Managing your group¡¯s storage space
When a group reaches 80% of its storage limit, Groups.io sends a warning notification to the group owner and to moderators who have opted to receive email notifications when the storage limit is reached. ?
You can configure your group to either bounce messages with attachments when the storage limit is reached or automatically delete old attachments to keep the group under the storage limit. See ?Admin > Preferences > Settings > Message Policies.
?
Other settings that you can use to help manage your group¡¯s storage space are:
Admin > Preferences> Settings > Message Policies > Max Photo Size in Email
You can also moderate attachments - see the setting in Message Formatting. And in Features - Max Size In Photos Section
Check it out. Explore all the options in Admin.?
?
As far as deleting them, check this earlier discussion - /g/GroupManagersForum/message/47810
There is a link to another post there as well.
?
The Emailed Photos do count towards storage. The messages don't themselves don't.?

Photo Album called "Emailed Photos"
We have a card making group.? So each time we receive a card we add it to the montly photo album and then after a year I can delete them.
The photo albums when opened offer a Line of things you can do, like delete the album.
But the emailed photos are not something we put there, it is something that happens when a message is sent to the group.? Those photos go there for easy viewing.? That part is nice.? BUT, I am worried about the storage amount and how long they stay there.? So far I have not been able to delete them unless I do it one at a time and that will take years to do as there have been probably years of photos there.
SO
1.? Is there a way to control that album.? Like tell it to save up to 100 and then delete any older ones?
2.? Is there a way to easily delete the older pages of photos?
3.? Does this album count tword storage space at all, in which case I don't need to worry about it?
THANKS for any help.? I have several card making groups so it is not just one and I don't want to take up more than my fair share of storage.

My wife and I moved some time ago, about 50 miles, to a place no longer served by my phone company. My email address was through that company, and I'd used it for something like 35 years.
?
I gleefully - and unceremoniously - dumped their sorry butts, as they knew they were the only game in town in my rural area, and were thus overcharging me (and everyone else they served). You know how it is.
?
Switched to GMail and tried to update everything in advance of the move, but there were accounts all over - many that I rarely accessed - that relied heavily on that TDS address. Took me over a YEAR to get things straightened out.
?
One thing that I've never gotten fixed is my account with MicroSoft. I paid a substantial lump sum for MSOffice (not Office 365) so I wouldn't be billed for it as rentware every year. Now, every time I open a document, I get a warning that there's a problem with my account. Thankfully, it's still working, but I've placed phone calls and used their online chatbots and there is apparently NOTHING I CAN DO to fix this.
?
Never in my wildest dreams did it occur to me that simply getting a new email address could be this much of a pain in the a$$. My wife experienced much the same thing when she switched away from Earthlink (don't get me started on that one).

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýYeah, that's the issue, she's locked out of groups with the old email address and she's also locked out of her Gmail account. That's why we're trying to merge the two without causing an issue. Mark I believe is going to get it fixed for me. I sent him the email addresses just a few hours ago. So things are looking up.

Re: Can't change members email address due to the fact that they're a moderator to a whole Nother group
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWe tried using the recovery method, but unfortunately, Google never gets back with her. And it's linked up to an old phone number that she no longer has access to. However, Mark responded this afternoon and asked me for the email addresses so I believe he's gonna go ahead and initiate the change. We'll see what happens. I told him what I needed it done.

I think it would be helpful to have a "Share poll results with group" option. That's effectively already there.? Anyone that's signed in will see the poll and can click the See Results button once the poll is closed.? Actually, they may be able to see it all along unless you've hidden the results until closed.? I think what you really want is a new message showing the results or to be able to force a resend of the post showing the results screen after the poll is closed.

My group is set to not accept attachments. I guess I would have to upload the screenshot to the files section and invite subscribers to go and look at it, which is not what I wanted to achieve. I think I'll stick with the copy and paste solution Bruce suggests, but I think it would be helpful to have a "Share poll results with group" option. Maybe I'll try to ask for it on Beta.
Thanks everyone for the advice.

Re: Can't change members email address due to the fact that they're a moderator to a whole Nother group
The idea that groups.io runs on is they have an account which is an
email address. That account is a member of X number of groups. If an account is changing its email address all the groups get that change at that time. It is the account that is a member of a group. That's the real key, we just see everybody as an email address. -Ken Cameron, Member JMRI Dev Team www.jmri.org www.fingerlakeslivesteamers.org www.cnymod.com |
