Re: Members flagged as NC (email address Not Confirmed)

In the member list¡ªin Admin¡ªyou could check all those NC members and download the checked ones to a .csv file. You¡¯ll have to give specific information on how to proceed if they¡¯re still interested in joining the group. Good luck! What specific instructions will you give the person to confirm their subscription?
Even the Help doesn't say except to reply to an official request to confirm your subscription by replying to that email. Wouldn't it be better to resend the confirmation email?

Steve, They would have received a confirmation email, whether they asked to join the group or were invited directly by the group owner. When one subscribe ¡°on the website¡± as you said, you basically send an email to the group¡¯s owners requesting to join that group.
This person likely belongs to at least one other group. When you belong to more than one group in groups.io and make modifications to your profile, the changes are made across all the groups to which you belong (except for some specific to each group like email delivery).

I¡¯m not sure I¡¯d have the patience to follow up with over a thousand NC pending members. I would start with the most recent applications. Those NC who applied several months ago and haven¡¯t contacted the group to inquire might not be that interested in joining. As Dano mentioned, there is the member's own setting as well as the group setting for attachment size.
To see / change the member's own setting, go to a group, choose Subscription from the menu. Then Settings. Open Advanced Preferences. ?Check the size of attachment - there is a note that says "Maximum size of attachments sent to you in emails. For attachments larger than this size, links to retrieve them will be provided instead."

Is your group set to compress image size down to a certain limit for large images? What are the size limits that individuals who are having problems have set for themselves? Note:?
If you do not respond to the ¡°Confirm your Groups.io subscription¡± message, you will not receive group messages or have access to the group¡¯s website on Groups.io.
Tip: If you think you should be getting group messages but you are not receiving any, check the spam folder in your email application or webmail interface in case a ¡°Confirm your Groups.io subscription¡± message was routed there mistakenly by your email provider. After you belong to at least one group, you will not receive ¡°Confirm your Groups.io subscription¡± messages for additional groups that you join by using the Join This Group button on those groups¡¯ websites. ?
Yes, you can resend a confirmation email to each. ?There is the option to do that in the individual member record. ?
Find the NC members using the filter in Admin, Members. Then open them, one by one. (I don't believe you can send the message to the whole group at once.)
?
Here's from Help - it says you can confirm them yourself if you have a premium or enterprise group. (That may have changed and frankly, unless you knew the person, I would prefer to know there really is a real person at the email address.)
?
Implications - Well, if you don't confirm them, you have an unrealistic notion of how many members you have. ?I would tackle it a bit at a time.

Members flagged as NC (email address Not Confirmed)
I help administer a support group on this platform. I just helped a new member resolve an issue with her new subscription as she wasn't receiving a copy of the group posts. Turns out it was something really simple...she hadn't confirmed her email address.
?
Curious, I checked for other members flagged as 'NC' and found over a thousand of them. I went through the site manuals, and it seems to suggest that you don't get access to the group unless you confirm your email address. That said, I checked activity logs and found one member flagged as NC who appears to have subscribed and not received a confirmation email (maybe she subscribed on the website rather than via email?), and another who hadn't confirmed her email address and yet had amended her profile. So, I'm confused.??
?
Here's my specific questions:
- Can NC members access the group via the website (they just don't receive posts via email)?
- Should I be reaching out to these NC members and get them to verify their email address??
- What's the implications if I do nothing? Am I fretting over something that's no big deal?
?
Many thanks,
?

Sorting the list of messages oldest to newest
On the messages page, how do I reverse the order of messages, so that I can see the oldest ones first? I've poked around in the interface but haven't seen anyting like that. (I'd consult the manual, but enough has changed in the interface that I might not get a current answer.) Cal |

Databases
Recently the order listing of my 9 databases suddenly changed, ?I am the owner and I did not make the order change and when I check ¡°Activity¡± I don¡¯t see where they were changed by a moderator. The new order does ot appear to have any pattern to it - they are not in alpha order nor do they appear to be listed by date created. ??
?
What steps do I use to change the order? ?How do I get the database order back the way I had them? ?Thanks in advance |
