Mute means that you don't want to receive any messages with that hashtag.? Unfollow is used after you've started following (always getting) messages with a specific hashtag and no longer want to. You

Go to Admin > Preferences >Settings, then in the Privacy Panel, choose that in the Visibility box.? You'll have to confirm that you want to make the messages private since this can't be reversed.
