Both Windows 11 and Adobe now recognize and process HEIC/HEIF files. The reason for adoption is that it's small, fast and accurate.? FireFox doesn't understand it, so if you use a URL to access HEIC/HEIF files, FF will ask you where to save it.? Also, while Adobe understands how to READ such files, it either won't or can't save in that format.? My wife's been an iPhone use for many years, but only when she got an iPhone 11s did her pictures begin to be stored as HEIC/HEIF. Re size, I have a JPG file that's about 9MB, while the image it was converted from is only 3MB.? To my eye they look identical.? Also, while JPG is a lossy format, that isn't true for HEIC/HEIF files. FireFox, Adobe and Windows 11 also understand the relatively new format used in WEBP files.? That's more protection than anything else, but now that Adobe can read and write them, that's mostly irrelevant. Metta, Ivan On Mon, Mar 4, 2024 at 3:10?PM Larry Finch <Finches@...> wrote:

That is NOT correct; MAC (Apple) did not come up with it. HEIC is a standard published in 2013 by MPEG, the same organization that created JPEG and MPEG formats. While Apple was the first to?adopt it in 2017, Google followed shortly after, and it is supported on Android phones, Windows 11 (Windows 10 with an update), and virtually all photo management and editing apps released in the past 5 years or so. Website developers are the odd ones out in not supporting HEIF (the umbrella standard for HEIC). Best, Larry Larry Finch N 40¡ã 53' 50" W 74¡ã 02' 55" |
I find it discouraging that 11 years after the HEIF/HEIC format standard was published, and 7 years after Apple was the first to adopt it, that many websites still aren't capable?of rendering it. All newer photo management and editing apps support it, including Windows 11, so there's no excuse anymore. The Owners Manual states that, in case of a pending message, you can contact the sender via the button "Send a Message".
(quote from the manual) "Click the link in the row of the pending message you want to handle. The page with the individual message appears. At the bottom of the page, click the button for the action you want to take" /helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/managing-group-topics-and-messages/handling-pending-messages I have a pending message just now, but I can't see any "Send a Message" button at the bottom of the pending message page. The only alternatives I have are Approve, Edit (on the left) or Reject, Delete (on the right). I don't even have a Ban the Sender button, for that matter. At the bottom of the pending message page there is a link to All Messages by this Member. It seems that I am short of a couple of buttons. Thank you in advance for your help. Marina |

Adding and Removing Members in a Subgroup
Hello -? I would like to host subscriptions to exclusive content within subgroups in our group (). Specifically, in order for a user to get access to specific content, they would have to be a member of the subgroup containing that content, and membership in the subgroup would be provided in fixed-term increments. I realize that we cannot manage time-limited subscriptions in . Therefore, I would manage the subscriptions in a separate spreadsheet. However, I need a way to update the subgroup member list in a reliable and straightfoward way. The File Sync option is the perfect solution to this... except for one big problem: File Sync doesn't work at the subgroup level.?So I need to find a workaround. I¡¯m supposing that I might update subscriptions once a week and I see that I can bulk delete every member from a subgroup. So perhaps every Sunday morning, I could delete everyone in the subgroup and then add back everyone whose subscription is still valid. But is there no way to upload a .csv file back to the subgroup to fill out the updated membership again? The Direct Add option would not be automated enough. As an alternative, I see that I can upload a CSV file of people to remove in bulk. So I could do that periodically as well. But is there no way to add people in bulk to a subgroup? |
