Look on the home page of your group.? There's a section for addresses to use for various things.

About Help - there are 2 main documents - one for owners and one for members. It is sometimes tricky to figure out which one. But to your question: ?the help page explains how to do search:

- View the manual as a single page . Then you can use the Find feature in your web browser to search the entire owners manual.
- View a PDF version of the manual. Then you can use the Find feature in your PDF reader to search the entire file.
Tip: In most browsers and PDF readers, you can press Ctrl+F on Windows or Command+F on Mac to access the Find feature.

I normally click on "single page" and use my browser Edit / Find (in Safari).

About inviting people to join your group:
Here's the Help page for using Invite.
/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/inviting-people-to-join-a-group?single=true

Take the time to edit your Invite Notice (in Admin, Settings, Notices) and use your toolbar to highlight your own content to personalize it. Save it for future use and activate it. Note that you can't remove what is there (the boilerplate) which is required at least in some jurisdictions. But by spaces, formats, bolding and italics, colour, you can get a pretty good invitation.

Then use Invite in your Admin menu.?

Well, watch me back-pedal. If I log out, the same feed doesn't work. So I think it's still validating me as a member before displaying the messages, either via the /messages display or via the /rss feed. I encourage others to do their own testing and confirm or refute these findings.

Richard -- As it turns out, one of my groups is already private, yet I am still able to append /rss to its URL and access messages via the feed.

This strikes me as a bug that should be reported in the beta group.

This is the setting that matters. If you have a private archive, the RSS feed should also be turned off. Check your group's home page to confirm there is no RSS feed link (under "Group Information").

So are RSS archive settings not working properly?
It is possible that making the archives private only hides the link from the home page and does not actually turn off the feed. It is not something I have personally tested, nor have I seen any discussion about that here in GMF.

I will leave the testing of that to others, as changing a group to private archives is an irrevocable decision and not to be taken lightly.

Is there any other way that the messages of the group could be viewed by a non-member (I have looked at all the members names and email addresses and do not see some sort of back door or alias member.)
It occasionally happens that a subscriber will forward group emails they receive to non-members, either singly or via some automated forwarder. Other than identifying the offender and removing him, there is no effective way to prevent that from happening.

Hope this helps,
Bruce?

In the Member help, It says:
Tip: If the Group Settings section on a group¡¯s home page states ¡°Archive is visible to anyone,¡± the Group Information section on that home page will contain a link to the group¡¯s RSS feed. (See the Group_Help group for an example.) You can subscribe to that group¡¯s feed using your RSS feed reader/application of choice, without joining the group. However, you will not be able to add topics or reply to topics unless you become a member of the group.

If RSS is working properly AND your archive is visible to members' only, there should not be an RSS feed on your homepage.
See this example that the Help provides:
/g/Group_Help
Also this group has a feed: ?/g/GroupManagersForum

Hopefully others can shed light on how someone is getting your content. Possibly someone is forwarding it to him?

Correct. Also, messages will not be received in real time. You have to wait for groups.io to poll the feed, which can take several hours.?

RSS Feeds and limiting to members of Group only?

So a bit of background. The original creator of the group that also was moderator had a falling out and did end up transferring the control of the group to the other Moderators. He has quit the Groups.io completely also and is no longer a member of the organization that is using the group for members only communications.?

But he is still able to read the posts and has copied content and photos without permission to use elsewhere.?

The only thing I can figure is the Groups Archive settings are allowing content to be able to be subscribed to by RSS feed. So a new posting will then be sent to any RSS feed Subscribers. The Group obviously since it is private, does not want anyone not approved from reading the content.?

So what would the exact settings be to change the archiving or at least also make it completely private or limit it to the approved members only?

Here is the?recap of the settings as selected under the Admin recap:?
All members can post to the group.
?Posts to this group do not require approval from the moderators.
?Posts from new users require approval from the moderators.
?Messages are set to reply to sender.
?Subscriptions to this group require approval from the moderators.
?Archive is visible to members only.
?Wiki is visible to members only.
?Members can edit their messages.
?Members can set their subscriptions to no email.

So are RSS archive settings not working properly? Is there any other way that the messages of the group could be viewed by a non-member (I have looked at all the members names and email addresses and do not see some sort of back door or alias member.)

Richard??

RSS Feed questions

Hello

I'm having another go at integrating a feed on our forum. It's

I know it works 'cos in Thunderbird, (email client), it downloaded 20 articles immediately

But after adding it to integrations in GroupsIO, nothing happened.

Is this because GroupsIO integration only fetches new content from a feed?

There are no setting for this in GroupsIO so I can't tell it to download anything.

Thanks

I'm not 100% sure, but I think you can already do that.? You have to upgrade your group to Enterprise, then install Google Analytics.

Without doing any testing on these two parts, I want to say that you can accomplish the first part by using the group-level setting you show, and since you can set also folder-level permissions, editing then each Files' top-level folder -except the 0.00 one- to disallow members uploading to it.? I'm not sure if one of those member-upload-disallowed folders has a subfolder if it inherits the parent permission or you would also have to do this to any subfolders of those, but you can check if so to see what happens and let us know.

But I think the problem you're alluding to in the second part is that even if the mod moves it into a different folder, the original uploader can still move it, right?? If so, supposedly they would only be able to move it to the 0.00 folder so it would be like a re-upload of sorts.?

Anyway, the setting you'd like to have is "Members can view and upload only" but the issue with that though is that would remove the capability of the original uploader to delete their file if they want, as that function would also be swept under the "member cannot do anything more to the file after being uploaded" restriction so I don't know if such a setting would be desirable, I guess you can post it as a #suggestion to and see what happens.

A kind-of a workaround in the meantime could be for a mod to save the member-uploaded file and then re-upload it themselves but into the corresponding folder, and this way only them and the other mods can edit it, however the file then wouldn't show as being uploaded by the actual member, but then again I guess the uploader's name could be included in the file description.

Cheers,
Christos

When I changed my domain name/email hosting company a few months ago I checked
first that I could have all spam filtering switched off. They are in UK. Send
me a private email if you would like to know who it is (this is not the place

In my case my email host for my domain introduced SPAMCOP a couple of years ago,
this creates lots of blocking but annoyingly allows most spam through. There is
a status page on mine to check the blocking situation. I've had many

Is it possible to have members upload to a single folder in FILES but not others?

Explanation:

We are reorganizing?our Files. In order to maintain?our new Files structure, we would like to have list members upload their submissions to an "Upload your Files Here" folder, and then have our Moderators place their submission into the proper folder. The screenshot below may help. We would like to allow upload into ONLY 00.0. And we would like to restrict any possibility of moving things once the Moderator has placed the?submission?into the proper folder to only the Moderators, but it seems the current system allows Moderators and the submitter to do this.?

It would seem we want something that is a bit of a modification of the second screenshot.

Thanks... I just did the search and it looks like that atmail is the owner of The Messaging Company, who are gradually taking over the email branch of my ISP, Westnet.
I have not yet been transferred to them, yet it seems they are already blocking mail.
I will definitely phone? Westnet tomorrow, to try to straighten things out.
