Is there a way to schedule and unschedule activities on the calendar without sending out a group notification? In addition to what Duane and Bruce have said, you could set the 'No email' attribute on the calendar related hashtags. Messages would then be posted to the archive but not emailed to members. Regards Andty |

Is there a way to schedule and unschedule activities on the calendar without sending out a group notification?Yes. When you set up a calendar event: 1. Don't set up any reminders, 2. Don't click on the "Send notice to the group when event happens" checkbox, and 3. Don't click the "Add event and invite group" button. Just click on "Add event." When you delete an event, a dialog box will pop up to confirm the deletion. UNcheck the "Send notice to group" checkbox before confirming. Of course, you can also moderate the associated hashtags, as Duane suggested. I find this latter option to be handy, especially for #cal-cancelled; as it gives me an opportunity to edit the outgoing notice and provide some explanation as to?why the event didn't happen. Filtering member list by moderators only (broken feature?)
I am one of the group owners of a group. We just lost a moderator and I wanted
to see who we had left. I went to the member list, clicked on filter, checked the box next to moderators, then clicked outside the drop-down filter list and it did not give me moderators/owners. I saw the complete list. Is there a temporary situation right now where this feature is broken before I report this in beta? You can edit the hashtags #cal-cancelled, #cal-invite, #cal-notice, and #cal-reminder so that they're all moderated.? You'll have to manually delete the notices when they go into the pending message queue to prevent them from being sent to everyone. Disable calendar notifications to the group

We have been using Groups.io for about 5 years now and just started to look at the calendar feature.? Is there a way to schedule and unschedule activities on the calendar without sending out a group notification?? ?Our goal is to use iCal on mobile devices to have the calendar viewable by members vs. the constant notifications in the email box.

FWIW, I don't have the KKT line in this message I received. I didn't check every
one but at least this one did not. Donald On Sat, 23 Apr 2022 11:49:08 -0400, "Frances" <frances@...> wrote:

Bruce, certainly not unrelated and definitely not perceived. The thing we're talking about is 100% Morse for KKT.

Thanks Shal,
I guess it's a programming thing as you say. Karush¨CKuhn¨CTucker conditions, maybe. I just see it as Morse code. Martyn? |
Re: KKT in Morse in footer

Martyn,
Malcolm, you could well be correct. No other logical explanation.Malcom is correct, these are just markers for the automated removal of quoted footers. In HTML formatted messages they are (supposed to be) invisible, but there's no way to hide them in plain text. I've only ever seen it as "KKT"I'm sure that's purely coincidental, an artifact of how you interpret those punctuation marks. This technique was also used in Yahoo Groups, but IIRC they used alternating hyphens and tildas; and the top and bottom markers were opposite. When I searched on it there was nothing ever been mentioned, which these days is unusual. I've only ever seen it as "KKT" All my personal emails are signed off with my call sign in Morse below my name and only once has a non-amateur commented. Martyn (M0TEB) |

I don't believe it is customizable, it is how GIO finds and strips old footers from incoming replies.

In HTML emails, the footer is wrapped in

_._,_._,_
that is: underscore period underscore comma underscore period underscore?
?
In a plain text email the footer is wrapped in

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
that is alternating hyphens and equals (with an extra hyphen on the end)
I have never seen the HTML wrapper as morse, just as some string that Mark once chose for some good treason.
