First, I would follow the directions given in this thread given earlier by Andy:

/g/Group_Help/topic/89668736

Otherwise, if the moderators weren't given these permissions, then the answer is
no. There are some work-arounds if you can't get control of the group . . .

If you find the only way to get things fixed is to start a new group, if one of
the moderators has access to the members' list, they can start a new group and
invite everyone in that list. If you pay for one month of premium membership,
you can direct add everyone so it starts off with all your members.

If no one has access to the members' list, then the other way to do it is to
make an announcement after a new group is formed, give directions to the new
group page, and have each person sign up. If you do this, I would also suggest
letting the old group members to contact you directly if they have problems
signing up, but there should be a link they can click on and send an email to
join by email instead of having to sign up on the website of the new group. That
may make it easy for them. But signing up by email won't (I think) give them
access to the databases.

ALSO, when the new group is formed, have at least two owners who get along with
each other for the new group. That way, this situation will never happen unless
both die or lose interest at the same time (unlikely).

If you find that Mark gives someone control over the old group, do make sure you
have at least two owners. If Mark doesn't give anyone ownership privileges but
gives someone super-moderator privileges, have that person appoint a few others
who can make sure the group will survive a death or that person losing interest
in the group.

I hope you get this sorted out, and PLEASE keep us informed about what happens.

Donald

Re: Question concerning 'Who sent it'

I'm not 100% clear on what you're asking but in GIO convention the word "Moderator" is used to refer to both moderators and owners. For example, in the activity log, the Moderator tab shows the activities of both owners and moderators.

I'm not quite following what you mean.? A screen shot might be useful.

The only difference I know of when using the Owner address is that it will be used as the Reply To: in the emails sent out instead of your personal address.

Thanks Brian,

That is another way to do it.

That should be Much simpler than my workaround.? It is not quite working as described ; will give it a go later.

When replying to. for example, a message within a topic and I choose to send it as 'Owner...', when the message is displayed in the thread, it advises that it was sent from me as a Moderator.? Is this correct?

Continuing a group after owner died

Hi I'm a member of a card making group and unfortunately the owner as died. She had the group set up so only she could set up databases etc, is there anyway we can get around this? We all would hate the group to close.

You can only remove members if the owner has given you that permission. You need access to the Members List.
See the list of permissions:
/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/managing-moderators-and-additional-owners/making-a-member-an-owner-or-moderator

Normally members leave the group themselves. The Members' Help has this info you can share with your member:

Leaving a group

If you decide you no longer want to be a member of a group, you can use any of these methods to leave (unsubscribe from) that group:

Click the Unsubscribe link in the footer of an email message from that group.

Send an email message to the group¡¯s unsubscribe address (see Standard group email addresses).

Go to the group¡¯s website, display your Edit Subscription page, go to the bottom of that page, and click the Leave Group button.

Go to the Your Groups home page, select the checkbox next to the group you want to leave, click the Actions button at the bottom of the page, and select Unsubscribe.

Unable to Delete Member from Group

Craig McCulloch

I am a MOD of a small group. One of our members wants to be removed from the group. I found the procedures to remove members. From the left list of commands it starts with ADMIN and going to Members List. I am not able to see the Members List or take any actions on it. Under ADMIN I only see two options ¨C Subgroups and Activity.

?

Question: Can only group OWNERS delete members from a group? If a MOD is also able to remove a member please provide instructions on how to do this.

?

Thank you for any assistance you can provide. If you are able to respond, please send it to my email address below.?

As others have said... no. Even if there was, there would be no knowing what they are actually signing in to and for, because signing - in is an "account level" activity, not a "group level" one. As a result while you might know that someone had signed in, you would have no idea which of their groups they were interested in and about to interact with.

Maybe, but you'd have to upgrade to an Enterprise group to install Google Analytics code.? There is no tracking/analytics available to other group owners.

If you mean you want to know how often people go to the website, I can only speak for basic and premium groups, where the answer would be no.

Jack -- As I told you earlier (?/g/GroupManagersForum/topic/89597594#40722?), creating a wiki index via a screen reader will likely be a challenge.

There are no tools within the web interface to facilitate it. Tony's suggestion is...at best...a hack.

Re: How do I post a link on my wiki, to another page within the same wiki? any help pages? #wikispaces

Steven

Here's an example -- a work in progress (index/ToC) but I think this is what you want to do....

/g/Catalina30/wiki

After I've created a Wiki page I just copy the link to that page and past it onto the ¡°home¡± wiki page. ?Using the normal link tools I can edit how the link will open, what text appears, etc.?

Another way it could be done is to paste the link to each wiki page as a ¡°heading 1, heading 2,.... format and use the table of contents function to insert a ToC at the top of the page. ? The ToC would jump down to the entry (link) and then one just clicks the link to go to the particular page.?
This might seem redundant but once we have enough wiki content entered to warrant organizing them into a tree structure?by main topics?(like chapters of a book) the ToC function will easily show things by that structure w/o us paging through the entire main page. Below each link on the Main page we might have a line or paragraph or keywords describing what's on the page before we jump to it.?

Hallo Steven,
Yes you can. ?
?It is not fresh in my mind how I did this because it was a while ago.
I'm on a previously advantaged free group.

In the Wiki? 'home' page I made a list of clickable links to other wiki pages. Like a Table of Contents, TOC. Also in each page I could put navigation links to other pages.

Each page has a groups.io id such as 21846.
The html on my main wiki page looks like this:
<p>This is the Wiki Home page</p>
<ul>
<li><a href="/g/mylist/wiki/21738" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">About Mylist.groups.io</a></li>
<li><a href="/g/mylist/wiki/21846" rel="nofollow">Rules</a></li>
etc.

On a wikipage you get to the html by 'EditPage',? Click hamburger = on the right of the menu, to show Advanced Toolbar, then Click the <> to show Source code.

On each wiki page is a 'Pages' button which gives a list of wikipages which are actual links (built in TOC). You can get the url of each page by inspection or by copying the link as above. From memory, I couldn't find a slick way of getting a list of those links ; had to copy each by hand into a text list.

Hope this helps and am happy to answer questions,
OK,
Tony

It works just like Groups.io's posting page. Use the hamburger menu to see the rest of the tools.?

First of all, there is some help here:
