Re: Missing from 'My Groups'
Duane I click on the tab marked "Your groups," with the silhouettes or figures. (See below)
I only have one email address I use. I have Groups.io bookmarked and the landing page is set to the message list for one of the groups I own. When I read the messages -- or do whatever I have to do -- I pull down the Your Groups menu and click on other groups. There are two groups that have gotten very busy the past month or two. They have similar names and similar subjects (Northeastern US history) and they're both very interesting groups. I have to try and remember which topic is in which group, check to make sure I'm clicking on the right one. My groups are listed alphabetically and these two groups have always been three or four rows apart. Until this morning. It's muscle memory. I usually start with the busier of the two, the one on top. Then I click on Your Groups and have to scroll down a few rows to get to the other one. Until this morning. Something has changed. Is there any archive of Your Groups listing? If an owner decides to delete his group, are members notified by Groups.io? tommy0421 |

Prevent view of "Subgroups" from another group
Hello,?
I have a subgroup which includes only members who should not be able to view any other subgroup name until their training (a group of trainees).? To these people this group should seem like the only group in our system.? While they can see (and are a member) of our top level group it's locked down - no messages from any members, etc.? What I can't suppress is the "subgroups" list appearing in the left hand navigation pane.? Is there a way to hide this or globally prohibit these users from joining any group they have not been explicitly added to? |

But if you click through, you see that the posting email address is updates@ However you seem to be saying that you don't see some "all-but-dead groups" that you belong to. Possible that you unsubscribed or you are logged in with the wrong email address? Or removed because you or your email provider marked something as spam and you didn't reply to the email notification to resubscribe? Or the groups have been deleted by the owners?? I can't see in Help what happens to my messages in Gio if I leave a group or am unsubscribed. I can see my very old messages in Your Groups, Manage Subscriptions (bottom) then Topics , All. Reverse sort order, but these are all from groups that I am actually a member of. You might see it in your email. I can search my Apple Mail to find Gio stuff just by using [ as my search term. Missing from 'My Groups'
This morning I went to the website for a group I belong to. There had been messages posted and, though I'm in email mode, I prefer to read them on the group page. When I was finished I clicked on the "Your Groups" menu at top left. I noticed two of my active groups are now listed on adjacent lines. They weren't listed that way as recently as last night. There were a couple of all-but-dead groups listed in between but I can't remember the names. Is it possible to get a previous listing, so I can see what's missing?

Re: Google Searches
I should also mention that the group Title and Description do appear as Open Graph meta tags when rendered by the site. This affects what appears when you share the group's URL on social media but does not impact your SEO. Concentrate on actual content and you should be fine.

The situation above is completely overstated. In fact, most engines do not even use meta tags anymore. Why? Because too many people abuse it. They would include things that had nothing to do with what the site was about, just to boost their score. Your proposal to stuff the header with keywords is a prime example of this. As long as your group is public, search engines will be able to crawl it. Type "Group Managers Forum" into a Google search and this group comes up just fine. In fact, it's the first hit. So the query is ¨Chas anybody been able to change or add tags to the HTML Source codes to the Head PageEnterprise groups ($200/month) have a fully-customizable home page on its own domain. Google Searches

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýGood afternoon
Let us say that one wants one¡¯s group site to be noted by Google Search
Engine so one gets traffic
Normally on a web site? one has a tile of 30 to 60 words and a
description with around 160 words with as many keywords as possible.
On the groups head page one can by right clicking on it go into the HTML
Source codes.
Google in their searches picks up or notes these source codes which are
called tags.
So your title and description will have individual tags.
At present in the groups HTML Source Code Head page there is only
a title tag being <title> email @groupio<title> being the email
address of the group.
There is no tag for a description.
So basically no search engine is ever going to find the site.
It is impossible to change the set up as it is locked at the server.
?
So the query is ¨Chas anybody been able to change or add tags to the HTML
Source codes to the Head Page

Database Permissions
If I limit Permissions:
Add Rows: Moderators and the table owner
Edit Rows: Moderators, the table owner and the row owner How do assign a row to the 'row owner'? As far as I can see the row owner is the table owner who entered the members name. I'd like a moderator or owner to create a row for each member and allow the member to update only their row as needed. Can this be done? Thanks for reading this and hopefully the answer. |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýOh, very good. The coding is different but the concept is exactly
the same. I wonder why github didn't just use the same codes as
mediawiki. Or maybe mediawiki didn't use the same codes as github.

Re: Monitor Participation
Alas, the same in many organizations of all kinds. Not unique to online groups!
?
Does your group have polls? In Premium and Enterprise groups, and in legacy Basic groups (those created?before August 24, 2020), provides a feature that members (or owners/moderators) can use to?create and respond to polls on a group¡¯s website.
You could try that to liven it up. Make sure that members know how to get online to your group homepage. Essential for polls.

Re: Monitor Participation
Aside from whether members are reading what is going on etc - many of them are leaving all the creativity to a very small group of 5-6 members max and paticipants in threads number about a dozen only. This is out of a membership of 185 members or thereabouts - not good - barry.
