Signature Line Question
I've created a signature line for my group, and checked both boxes to include in online posts and through email. The signature shows up on every message when posting through the group, but doesn't show up at all when I email through my personal email account. Is this normal?
Thanks, Tiffany |
Bouncing Members
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWhen checking the email history of the bouncing member, & seeing that recent messages have been successfully delivered, how can I reactivate this member as a regular member? I like to keep my bounce numbers way down, if at all possible. ? Also at what point should i consider a member ¡°dead¡±, after multiple bounce probes & no change with their email delivery? ? Thanks for any advice! ? Ruthie Levi ? |
Re: What is the "NC" designation
Bernie,
on some pending members approval. Not sure what it means. It means "Not Confirmed" - the pending member hasn't confirmed (verified) their email address by responding to the email message sent by Groups.io. When a person goes to the Groups.io web site, and isn't already signed in, the system can't know if the email address they typed in is correct. It could have a typo, or it could be deliberately false. To guard against such problems the address is considered "NC" until confirmed. Until it is confirmed group messages are not sent to that address, even if you approve their membership. An exception to the above is if you have a premium group: then you (a group moderator) can confirm the address on behalf of the person. Shal |
Re: Auto-Send Regularly Scheduled Member Notices
Paula,
Is it possible to auto-send a message to a group at regularlyCurrently the only Member Notice that can be scheduled is the Group Guidelines. But there can only be one such notice, and its only schedule is monthly. How can this be accomplished? As Jack said, a calendar Event can be used for this purpose. When creating the event, make it: o All Day o Event Repeats o Repeats: Weekly o Repeat Every: 2 weeks o No reminders set o Send Notice To Group When Event Happens There will be some boilerplate surrounding the Description text, and a system-generated hashtag in the Subject line, so it won't be exactly like an ordinary message, but the above settings will minimize the extra text. GMF's monthly subscription reminder is set up this way, it was created before the Group Guidelines notification existed, and before the "Send Notice To Group When Event Happens" option existed, and I haven't bothered to change it. You can find the January 1st reminder in GMF's Messages section, or wait a couple days... Shal |
Re: Question About Members List List
#membership
Don,
Is the Join email sent before or after the transfer to Groups.io?If you mean your group's Welcome notice, that (if you set one up) and the system-generated welcome notice are sent to each copied member after the copy of membership and content is complete. Originally those had been sent when the membership was copied, but that sometimes prompted eager members to post while the copy of the messages was still in progress, causing the messages to be intermingled. So now the welcome notice is deferred until all content is complete. Shal |

"Members copied in by the transfer agent don't need to be approved. It is presumed that the fact they were members of the Y!Group is sufficient approval."
Is the Join email sent before or after the transfer to Groups.io? Don |

Don,
Our YG transferred over to Groups.io recently, and members of the oldThe members with recent dates likely joined your Groups.io group on their own. The members with older dates were copied in by the transfer agent. These dates look like dates these people joined our old YG site,That's correct. thus making it very hard to know who actually joined our new site. All the members shown in your Members list have. Or rather, the ones copied in didn't have to join, the transfer agent did that for them. Along with that situation, I know all the members that came over wereMembers copied in by the transfer agent don't need to be approved. Question About Members List List
#membership
Our YG transferred over to Groups.io recently, and members of the old group have slowly coming over to the new group. When I look at the Members list I notice about 60 percent have a current date of joining, and the rest have join dates well before the date our site was officially formed on Groups.io. These dates look like dates these people joined our old YG site, thus making it very hard to know who actually joined our new site. Along with that situation, I know all the members that came over were not in the Pending page to be approved. What's going on here that I need to know?

Auto-Send Regularly Scheduled Member Notices
Paula McMullen
Hello,
I'm new to io so I'd appreciate some direction. ?Is it possible to auto-send a message to a group at regularly scheduled times? ?I have a notice that needs to be sent every two weeks. ?How can this be accomplished? Thanks in advance, Paula |
Database Search II
I have many databases in our group, and I'v noticed something peculiar when I do a search on one of them. Six dbases have some information found in all of them, and when I do a search for a particular item in one dbase, the results of the search will also display that particular information in the other dbases, along with what I'm looking for. It's like these dbases are connected, so a search in one is a search in all of them. This does not seem like a normal operation to me. Is it?

Re: Yahoo email address contortions
David,
I have no idea what you are talking about. This has nothing to do withOh, but it does. It has everything to do with Yahoo Mail, and their decision to break almost every mailing list on the planet. AOL and a few others followed suit. One of my people send a message to the group and his email isThat member must be using one of the accursed email services. If I can stop it please let me know. You can't, but the member could chose a less benighted email service. That being said, I am I think signed up on this group as a dailyPutting on my GMF owner hat, I can confirm that you have two subscriptions to this group, at two different email addresses. One that joined Jan 22nd and is set to Summary, and a second that joined early this am my time (10:43am UTC), and is set to Individual messages. Shal GMF Owner |
Re: Yahoo email address contortions
I have no idea what you are talking about. This has nothing to do with Yahoo.? One of my people send a message to the group and his email is modified like that. If I can stop it please let me know.
That being said, I am I think signed up on this group as a daily summary and I am getting all the messages one by one all day long. |
Re: When not to transfer a Yahoo Group list.
Carol Shenkenberger
Hi Back SP4149, I'm the other sort and nothing is happening.? Have not yet gotten an answer from support either.
I suspect the problem is the email address at groups.io isn't the same at the yahoogroups one but I've sent an email from both accounts.? I seem so far to be in limbo-land but I haven't spammed them with many messages yet..? |
