Re: staying logged in to Groups.IO
Hi Bruce, I googled the problem I am having and this old reply if yours in group managers form came up. I don¡¯t know whether you can help me with this. A few months ago, out of the blue, I started to have to log back into my group each time I go to the website on my iPhone 6. Before this I always stayed logged in, presumably for 30 days since my previous login. Cookies are enabled in my Settings. ?Each time I log in to my group I have to agree to except cookies, but when I checked in advanced settings for Safari and search for groups io, no cookie came up. It seems as though, despite excepting cookies from groups.io, just their cookies are not getting through, because I have miles and miles and miles of cookies in my advanced settings for every other website I¡¯ve ever been to. Do you have any idea why this could be happening??

Re: EarthLink and issues with receiving on post
Joseph,
I'm sure he's not bouncing, because he's been able to get otherThat's immaterial. If his service rejects only the occasional message (the ones he posted) then Groups.io will most likely not put his account into Bouncing status. But those occasional bounces will still be logged in his Email Delivery History. How quickly Groups.io acts to put an account on Bouncing status has a fairly complex description, but the intent is to ignore the occasional glitch while acting immediately if the email address becomes invalid. /helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/additional-information/groups-io-bounce-handling Thanks, he's done some checking around. As well. I'm unable to messAsk if his checking has included the Recent Bounces page in his account. And/or the Email Delivery History tab of his Subscription page in a group where his own posts have not arrived by email. Either might offer a clue. Thanks, he's done some checking around. As well. I'm unable to mess with this subscription. Is it is not a group that I run. It's a group that I participate in. I'm sure he's not bouncing, because he's been able to get other messages.

Ken,
They were all local image files, inserted on the UI via the imageThat being the case I concur. And am likewise baffled. I wasn't previously sure if you'd posted the message via web or email. The images came thru perfectly on the email turnaround to me.And in the posted message (following the link you provided). Leaving your original question unanswered: why there are thumbnail links to exactly two of five. Given that the images are properly part of the message body, I don't think those thumbnail links belong there. Those two are not "attachments" in that sense of the word (though in the underlying email source all five were almost certainly MIME attachments). Or all five should have had thumnail links, if that's how Groups.io wants to handle embedded images. Re: EarthLink and issues with receiving on post
Joseph,
... I have a member who has an EarthLink address and who is notSome email services are inclined to treat a message received from the outside (Groups.io) but containing the From address of their user (the posting and receiving member, in this case) must be spam. Or worse. Because "why would you send a message to yourself". So the first thing for the member to check is his/her Spam (or Junk) folder, using Earthlink's webmail interface. Another thing you or the member can check is the member's Email Delivery History to see if the member's own posts are being rejected ("bounced") by Earthlink. In the latter case, you might inquire on beta about having Groups.io apply the same DMARC rewrite work-around for one's own posts to Earthlink users that Groups.io does for Gmail. Gmail wasn't rejecting one's own messages, but had begun putting big alarming warning banners on them that they might be dangerous spoofed messages. The best case of course would be to convince Earthlink that it is ok for one's list posts to come back to oneself. But it might take a lot of persuading to get them to fix it. Louie,
On Yahoo the references were made clear in the topic index thatIf you mean Yahoo Groups, I don't remember that being the case. In the neo interface it was a straight list. In the classic interface the indented message list was shown under an individual message: But that doesn't matter right now... To your original question, Groups.io has never had a view that reveals the actual reply linkage. But it does come up again from time to time on beta, as Duane mentioned. Here's another suggested implementation from me: Shal -- Help: /helpcenter More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Ken I had thought the blue attachment icon was part of the attachment link but I think you're right, it's not. It displays whenever there is an image in the message, attached or not? Sounds possible.
But when I said a member was asking me, "What happened?" he was mostly wondering why his message on the website showed the two images he embedded, while his message in the digest showed only one. Any ideas? tommy meehan |

ken,
Any clue as to why only two out of five? There may be some clue in the View Source of the message, something perhaps about how the photos were encoded into the message. But only a group mod would have access to that. It is also possible that a clue was preserved and sent on to those members who received the message by individual email, but that's less certain. I don't see any clues in the HTML of the message's page on the group, so another possibility is that it is just a quirk in the system, as Duane suggests. Using images are like as consistent as modems back in the Windows 3.1Email and HTML have always been strange bedfellows, especially where images are concerned. HTML has many schemes to reference them (cid, http, data, ...), and MIME adds its own various ways to attach them to the email message body. Files Folder accidently removed. Any UNDO?
One of our owners was responding to a "File /Business Meeting Minutes/2021/04....pdf uploaded" message from [our group].groups.io Notification [email protected] He evidently clicked on something that deleted all of our minutes. All of our owners received a notification: "his name hisemail@... moved folder Business Meeting Minutes" but with no clue as to where that folder got moved to. When queried over the phone, he is unable to explain anything other than trying to read the pdf file. Is there any possible way to retrieve that folder, short of uploading all those files for all those years? Thanks in advance. Cliff in Baja SoCal |
