First, make sure that the owner label is showing on the homepage beside Home.

Here is a help page that links to several of your issues. See especially Steps 6 and 11.

That's correct, I received no notification of your liking, and prior to your mentioning it, no knowledge of it.

Best,

There is no summary available. "Likes" are recorded only in the message archive, on a message-by-message basis, and even then only in Messages view.?

If you would like to see the "like" feature expanded into something more than it is, you'll need to post that as a #suggestion to the beta group ().

Another unfortunate effect of this not being recorded anywhere is that there is no email involvement, so if someone who never goes to the group page gets a post liked, they will never know about it.

Glenn

It hasn't been suppressed, just not implemented - big difference.? Mark (GIO owner) has said that new features will be added based on usefulness, mainly to paid groups.? There are many small things that folks have asked for that are on the TODO list.? Some have been there for years though.

Exactly! Some of us want to encourage new topics and authors and to have a sense what readers enjoy.

Is there a tally of Likes that I have somehow not found?

I have exactly the same question!?

Is there a reason this capability has been suppressed?

If you just want to know how many, go to the Messages view in your group.? It would be up to you to keep track of how many there were at various times.? In this group, for example, there are ~36114 messages in the archive at this moment, from the 6+ years it's been in existence.

You can set up a subgroup to accept non-member mails and also set it so that only owner/mods have access.? Even main group members would have to send as non-members in that case, but it should do what you're asking for.

Re: How much space are you using

Shal,

Bummer.? It would be nice regardless.? A total for the year-over-year and full total of the group could really help the owners and moderator know of the activity other than the Home front page and pulling up the calculator to add up 12 months each year.

There has been discussion about localization on the and it will happen someday.? Unfortunately, that "someday" may end up being measured in years.? Others may be able to give you some tips on things they've done to minimize the difficulties for now.

WRB,

Is it feasible to have an owner option that all ¡°attachments¡± case to

Sure, select "Delete Old Attachments" in the "Storage Limit Reached" control, at the bottom of the Message Policies panel of your group's Settings page.
/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/customizing-group-settings/message-policy-settings

This deletion isn't after a specific time, but operates periodically each time your group's storage approaches exhaustion.

It would put the onus on group owners to otherwise organize and
archive those of lasting value, ...
That's one of the unfortunate omissions in this mechanism. Generally there is no easy (one click, or few clicks) way to mark or move attachments which are valuable so that they are excluded from automatic deletion.

Instead you must download them and upload them to somewhere else. And if you're managing a newer (non-legacy enabled) Basic group that somewhere else will need to be cloud storage outside of the group, or re-posted attached to a new message.

BMaverick,

Not sure where to find the message post totals, ...
There are no totals for the message text, that isn't counted against your group's storage.

Except for these parts of messages, which do count:
Attachments: 48 MB - 4% of 1GB [View Attachments]
Photos: 310 kB - 0% of 1GB

[Reason: Took out identifying words - so personal info won't be

I went through and deleted the prior revisions. I'm not sure the web crawlers can access them, but I'm not sure they can't either.

Note: "In the archive, a blue Edited () badge appears next to the message, at the far right under the original timestamp. All group members can click that badge to see the message¡¯s history and, if desired, compare revisions."

Send-only subgroup?

Is it possible to configure a subgroup to be send-only?? We need a subgroup that receives information via email from members and non-members (like a suggestion box).? We don't want the sender to see other posts to that subgroup.? I can configure a person's mail frequency to "no mail", but they can easily log in and change that.

Thanks for any suggestions,
