Re: Transfer

Dave, are you inviting [email protected] to be a member of your YahooGroup?
That worked for me however many YahooGroups support functions have been
down the last few days, including the membership function yesterday.

Problem with Incredimail formatting (was: html)

Edited

Someone told me here to uncheck the image size. When I did that I can now see all the incredimail graphics with no problem. I wanted to thank you.

My only issue now with iogroups is that they delete people if letters go to spam. I have a member who got so upset she won't sign up again and I dont want to lose members here.

Is there any way to sign her up again without her doing it?

Anita

Re: Editing and Deleting Posts

No, there's no way to prevent them from deleting their posts. I have lobbied for this as well. Others argue that members are legally entitled to remove their own content. I think the legal argument actually goes the other way, because users grant non-exclusive license to display their content in any way, shape or form. The current TOU does not require to allow users to remove their posts, and I feel strongly that a group should be allowed to disable that ability. There are threads on beta about this. You might want to have a look.

Hello all,

I just tried to log into my still existing Yahoo Group.? That group was transferred to groups.io in January 2017.? I can see the photos clearly.?

However, when I try to log into a 2nd group, or which I am Co-Owner also, first I cannot view databases within the group.? If I go out of the group and come back in, I can view the databases, but when trying to open them I get an error message that I do not have access to edit the database.

I would say Yahoo definitely has its issues.

I can now get to my groups, but the files sections of several groups
(I didn't try them all) list files but they're not accessible. Photos
shoed in one group, square blank placeholders in another, and in
another few no photos at all.

If they're trying to fix those sections, there's clearly more work to
do yet.

Re: Starting a new group but not running it yet?

groupmoderator3,

Is there a way to transfer all the data to a new groups.io group but
NOT run it yet, ie: not notify the members of the switch. Just let it
be ready. Then start it up when wanted/needed.
I believe you can (or could*) do that simply by requesting it when you give the "go" email to the transfer agent.

The difficulty with doing this though is that then you have a break in your message and other content: content posted to your Y!Group after the copy won't be automatically mirrored over to the Groups.io group; you'd have to impose on support to do that for you when you're finally ready.

*As of some time between 1:30 and 3:30pm pacific time (21:30 and 23:30 UTC) this afternoon I'm no longer able to access any content at Yahoo Groups. If the same is true of the transfer agent you may be out of luck until and unless Yahoo fixes Y!Groups.

Starting a new group but not running it yet?

Hi everyone. Sorry I am sure this has been addressed already but I couldn't find it in a search. We mods are getting increasingly scared by YG's failures... but the owner does not yet want to switch. Is there a way to transfer all the data to a new groups.io group but NOT run it yet, ie: not notify the members of the switch. Just let it be ready. Then start it up when wanted/needed.?

Thank you Martyn - I have started the process on one of my groups so fingers crossed all is well - I have been prevaricating for a couple of years - just nervous!!! So now have taken the bull by the horns!!! I have some idea of the workings as I did set up a test group a few years ago but it is making the final decision that has been hard!!!

Best Wishes
Jan

Don't worry, just go for it! I recently transferred a 20-year old group from Yahoo, and all the members, photos, files, databases transferred - it took Mark no more than a couple of hours, and all I had to do was send a couple of emails!

The admin interface and web-based members area is a lot easier to use, a combination of the old familiar features, but smoother (and it WORKS!), and lots of new bits!

I should have done it years ago!
All the best,

Martyn
