Re: Turn off Moderation

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hi- I checked, and the messages needing moderation say that they are ¡°requiring approval because the topic is moderated via email¡±.

This is happening on an emails that are definitely part of the group and have no alias...

Yes, contact support as advised in the Note of the "Setting up or disabling two-factor authentication" section of /helpcenter/membersmanual/1/understanding-groups-io-accounts/setting-account-preferences-and-viewing-account-information in the Members Manual.

Re: I keep having to approve my own messages. Why?

That was it. Thank you. I'm not sure why the hashtag got moderated, but I've removed the requirement and I'm checking the others. Great to have an answer to this issue.

free group question

Hi! I am asking this for a friend. She has a free group and marked when it gets
close to the limit of attachments or memory for the earlier ones to be removed.
It says she is out of space. So when or how does the earlier attachments get removed?
Does she have to notify Mark or someone here to do that?

Thanks

You can turn off moderation by changing your group to restricted membership. In Admin, Settings, Spam Control.

(I know I'm an idiot) but I lost my backup code

So I have a small group that I migrated from Yahoo last year. Premium plan. I used a two-factor authentication app on my phone to do the initial creation and like an idiot didn't write down the backup code, thinking somewhere in the back of my head that it was still in my phone. Which is was.
Until work sent me a new phone and wiped the old one.?
I have managed to subscribe to my group using another email address, but can't do anything else. When I try to log in with the owner email address, it tells me I need the backup code, which of course I don't have. Or the authentication app for that matter.?
I'm presuming I should just tell the people in the group it's being closed, move on and try to forget this ever happened. Is there any other way?
Thanks,

Kayelle -- As Frances and Duane have both said, go to Admin>Activity. Every post to your group generates an entry in the log. If a post goes into moderation, the log entry will tell you why.

Have you looked at Activity to see what your messages are doing??

For example, are you using a hashtag that requires moderation? Or are new topics moderated or moderated after a certain date?

You can go to Admin, Activity. See the notes about your account.?

Or if you have a lot of activity from other members, go to Admin, Members. Search for yourself and then click on your name. (Not the checkbox.) And then Activity History.

Re: I keep having to approve my own messages. Why?

Thanks Duane and a BMaverick. It was the attachments that were causing the problem. It was hard to see because most messages had small attachments because of the nature of the group. I had wondered about that but didn¡¯t see anything in Message Settings, but knowing that the setting existed I was able to find it in Message Formatting.?

thanks again?

That would depend on what you searched for and what the results were.? I'm sometimes caught off guard when I see a result I wasn't expecting, but it matches the search term in an unusual way.

Re: Spammers attempting to join groups

Hi Donald

I have to say I have received replies to my pending subscription questions even more vague than that but turned out to be genuinely interested in the group, some people don't like answering questionnaires so keep it brief

Spammers tend not to reply to a pending subscription questionnaire at all or give a generic response, yours mentions amateur, I would not expect that from a spammer

If I had received that reply I might consider it is someone with an interest but not the best at communicating or using social media or English wasn't their first language

I might add them, or at least send them a message requesting more information, they would be moderated for their first message anyway and if that raised an eyebrow when received you could either unsub them or moderate for a longer period (I have it set as one post then unmoderate and that works well)

Your choice of course but just wondered if you were banning a legitimate subscriber

Re: Profile and Directory Query #profile #directory

Interesting - I have two accounts - one as an owner/moderator ( there is also a co-moderator) and the other as a test.? I've just logged in with my test membership and, in the Directory, searched for me.? Guess what, two names appeared - me and the co-moderator.? Is this a bug?

Re: Spammers attempting to join groups

We use the 1 approved post before being able to post without
moderation, but we're thinking of changing that to 2.
