Re: sort members by last posting date

J,

I want to sort members by their last posting date. Does anyone know
how to do this, or is there possibly some easy kluge?
I don't, alas, but that's an interesting idea.

I haven't been paying attention to the API interface, but maybe that's the sort of thing one could implement via the API, if one were a programmer with the relevant skills.

For us mortals I wonder if this could be made a filter (under the funnel icon) for the Messages (and Topics) lists: "latest message by member". Then with the filtered results sorted by date you'd have that list, including subject line links and snippets of those messages. Correspondingly, another filter could be "earliest message by member" - to answer the related question.

Combine that filter with the existing date range filter and you could get a list like "who posted in 2017".

The disadvantage I see with this proposal is that you don't get a convenient table view of them. But maybe an exportable table view of message lists is just a viewing option, a different feature we could ask for.

Re: reply options

Yes, she's using an email program called The Bat. Actually, I use the same program and I am not having that problem. And we both are using Gmail accounts for our emails.

Hmm... I'm at a loss.

Do you know what email interface she's using? A client application like
Thunderbird or Forte, or a webmail provider via a browser? Maybe that
detail will trigger someone's memory.

A few weeks back I had that problem with Thunderbird, owing to a change
Mark made to the headers. But he backed that change out and so that
particular problem isn't happening with current messages.

Thanks for the tip, Shal, but she is accessing her emails on a desktop computer. No one else in the group is having that problem. I've had her unsubscribe and resubscribe to see if that would help and it didn't.

Some people using mobile email apps have reported that problem. It seems
some apps ignore the "Reply-To" field that Groups.io puts in outbound
message headers.

If that's her situation I don't know if there's a solution, unless
there's an option in the app that could be changed, or an update to the
app, or a different app she could use.

I use the gmail app on my Android phone, and it does not have that
problem. If I remember correctly the members reporting the problem were
primarily using the Apple mail app on iPhone.

Re: Problem with Incredimail formatting (was: html)

mike,

Increditmail used to use web beacons.
Not sure if they still do.
Would that have any effect on the problem?
My guess would be "no", because Anita reported that the messages come through ok when there's no side border. I can't think of a reason the beacon would be missing or different without the border.

That said, if the Incredimail user has the option to turn off delivery tracking, or whatever they call it, that wouldn't hurt. I don't know though if Incredimail users are informed about whether their messages are read by the recipient - it might not be an optional feature.

Re: member got deleted

Hello Anita,
?
There is no way to stop members that delete all of their spam mail and not looking at it, to stop them from being removed as a member from Groups.io.? The problem does not originate with Groups.io.? The receiving email service marks the Groups.io email as spam.
?
All your members have to do is to mark the emails from Groups.io as not being spam.?
?
If your members do continue to delete all spam,. when a Groups.io email is deleted as spam the member immediately receives a link for the member to click on to immediately reinstatement them to the group.

That was more of a question for the techs.
A web beacon/web bug is used to track the sender AND the receiver of the email message and is hidden within the message.

Shal thanks for your note. I use incredimail as my mail server and many on my list do also. Yes the side borders are the ones that are the problem with.
?
If I go to my yahoo account or the messages here there is not a problem I believe.
?
It is a big issue for me. The main issue is how members are getting deleted for letters going into spam. I cant have that because these members get upset and wont come back.
?
Thanks for your help.

reply options

I have my group set to reply only to the whole group. ?A new member who had been on "no mail" just switched to individual emails. When she tries to reply to one of the messages, it automatically goes only to the person who sent the message instead of to the whole group. ?I know she can click on "reply all", but then she has to delete the original sender's name and that's a lot of trouble. ?It has always been where when we hit "reply" it just goes back to the group. ?Any suggestions?

thanks,

Re: Pinned posts

I'm looking for some way to create a section of selected posts. I'll try creating a #FEATURED hashtag though it's not quite the same thing. Anything I'm missing...?

Re: member got deleted

Does anyone know if the service that starts with A and ends with L has a whitelist that would stop members from experiencing this problem?

The service that starts with A and ends with L (and has been known to
auto-delete posts that mention them, on the assumption that any mention
will not be favorable) is notorious for this behavior. Many list emails
are dumped into the spam folder, and, unless the sender marks them as
not spam, the post is reported. At that point, their rules require the
sending ISP to unsubscribe them.

YEp. I'm going to combine my two albums shortly, probably by delting the one with only a picture, and then loading a copy into the other album.

I sure miss the option in Yahoo photos where we could ¡°reorder photos¡±. The ability to decide what order they fall in within our albums.

Who knew I¡¯d miss something about Yahoo!

As the official Photo monitor for our group I was given moderator status. With this I could change album titles to work around the alphabetical album sort.

I see nothing like this, is it coming?
