Fortunately you are mistaken, at least partly. Go to the photo in question (in whatever album* it is in) and click on the thumbnail. Owners (and Moderators with the relevant permission) and the photo's originator can edit the name and add a description. Where appropriate the ownership of he photo can also be reassigned.

* If the photo was sent as an attachment and is thus in the Emailed Photos album then the details cannot be edited.

Retitling photos

Pardon another stupid question, but they're the only kind I ask, and I expect the answer is simple.
Is there no way to retitle a photo that's already been uploaded to a group's Photos section?
It's easy enough to do with Files, but I think I'm correct in concluding that it can't be done with photos, eh?

Is there a way to change this on my group settings? (I've xxx'd out the member's name and the message name)
No.

This is to notify you that xxxxx@... has been unsubscribed from your group [email protected] because message? xxxxxx?was marked as spam. Note that this may have been done by their email service provider, not by the individual member personally. They've been given a link that lets them quickly resubscribe, in case this was an error.

There have been some changes to Wiki page links recently but I've not heard of any issues following that.? If you go to Admin > Settings and then scroll to the bottom and look at the Wiki controls you will see the Sticky Wiki Page option. From there you can select which Wiki page link you want at the top of your messages page or select (none) if you don't want anything there. Don't forget to use the blue Update Group button to save any changes you make.

There's no option to add members back in from the Past Members list.? The only option for each member is to click the History link which shows all actions for that member from the Activity Log.

I have a link in the blank space above the general messages page that used to take you right to the wiki page.? Now it just loops you back to the home page.? How do I correct this?

If/when it happens again, check the Past Members list to see if you can add them back from there.? That list is only on Premium or Enterprise groups, but you must have one of those since you were able to Direct Add him.

He responded that he didn't do it and wanted to stay, and there were no emails with instructions to reinstate, not even in his spam folder.
John -- Yes, if this reinstatement email is lost somehow, I agree that's a real problem.

So I direct added him.? All is fine except that the member list does not show him as having been a member since 2005.? Not that anyone cares mostly but... it does help moderators to determine if a removal was valid or a yahoo issue.? If it's a long time member it's likely an issue and we can go through the effort to notify outside groups.io and resolve things like this.? I couldn't find a way to reinstate him myself.? Is there a way?
It seems there ought to be a way for an owner to resend the reinstatement message, just as we are able to send additional bounce probes to those who are Bouncing. As it stands, there is currently no way for an Owner to actively provide assistance.

Could a person like that login to their account on groups.io and have a reinstate button or something?? There wasn't anything on my owner account that would allow me to do anything but direct add that I found.? I would think that it is a regular occurrence that when someone is removed for spam the backout emails would never get there.
It can happen that an email provider triggers the feedback loop and pre-emptively deletes the message without it ever landing in a spam folder. In such a case the reinstatement email might never see the light of day, either. Even if it does land somewhere in the member's incoming mail, that's no guarantee that he won't balk/panic and delete it himself.

I just now sent a suggestion to beta on one way that might be remedied...may take awhile before it passes moderation. If you like the idea please give it a bump...or suggest some alternative approach.

Bruce

Thanks, Duane, appreciate the reply and will utilize your suggestion until a "fix".

I now return this groups.io site to Yahoo :)

What I do is remove the content, inserting an appropriate comment, and lock the topic.? The last one, still locked, now says "[Mod Note: Content inappropriate for group.? Content deleted, topic is locked and will be deleted]"? After awhile, usually a week or so, I can delete the topic.

I keep hoping that this will come to the top of the TODO list.? I think the plan is to be able to delete the message, but leave a place holder so replies won't start a new topic.? At least that's what I understand from the last discussion on beta and the notes on Trello.

Geesh, thought I was in the Yahoo Forum...anyway...

Back to groups.io (not yahoo)... if a member puts up a post, and I opt to delete it as moderator (poster not on moderated status), it still goes out to email for those who have that option set, and they can then reply and effectively revive it, even though the original post is no longer there.? yes, i could leave the post up and lock it, but I don't even want the post there.

options?

Re: Yahoo Group Suddenly Comes To Life

Not all Yahoo groups still work for email only. Mine (the one I transferred here) does NOT. That's a major reason we moved it.

Re: Yahoo Group Suddenly Comes To Life

Jan,

Our old Yahoo Groups' owner is AWOL since 2010.? These are setup to allow anyone to just join and post.? No moderators either.? We moved 4 groups into 1 here at GIO.

In the past month, I've gotten 5 new messages off those Yahoo listserv groups.? I've successfully rerouted 3 of those folks via a posting on those Yahoo listserve groups to join us on GIO.? Not sure where the other 2 people went.

We have no ability to update the ABOUT page on Yahoo as this is an OWNER function.? I do like the fortnight notification going out to those Yahoo listserve groups now.? It seems to be our only method of recourse.
