We came up with a work around to that change which will serve the purpose of our group fine. Instead of using the To: field, I instructed the members to put their groups in the CC Field along with the Owner's email in the CC field. ? Now we?can see that they sent the ads letter out to their groups. ? ? ? ? ?

You will have to do some searching through the past messages back
around early through late December, but there is someone who made it
possible to take what Yahoo saved for members and sent to them upon
request to be able to upload them. The program or script is free. You
have to have the files Yahoo sent to the member from that group. I
don't know how to do that so I can't be of any help with that. I
looked into it and thought it was too complicated.

If anyone in your group used PG Offline to archive your group's
messages, there's a program available (not free) that can upload the
messages archived by the program. I used it to upload the old Yahoo
messages for several groups. I put those messages in a subgroup so
members could join it and search through the old messages. If there is
someone who archived those messages in PG Offline, they can export the
archive and you can import it into PG Offline, which is free now. Then
buy PGO-2-GIO from personalgroupware.com and make your transfer. If
you are going to do this, let me know and we can get in touch unless
you think you can do it all yourself.

That wouldn't do any good.? GIO quit doing transfers in December when the information became unavailable to them after about the 15th.

Since you didn't follow the procedure, no transfer was (nor will be) done.? That required payment of a full year at once.? There would have been a notice sent when the transfer was completed if you'd done it properly.

My files have still not appeared in io, and I can't see any way to find out whether the transfer was successful. I have been paying the premium fee in installments for 6 months but still am not seeing the messages. How can I find out if the process was successful? If we've just lost all our yahoo messages, I don't want to keep paying the premium fee. If they're going to appear, I'd like to know that so I don't cancel the premium subscription prematurely. Was there ever any kind of confirmation of successful transfer sent out? I don't remember seeing one.

Okay - may I ask to prevent what problems? It is causing a problem in our group now because we won't know if an owner sent the ads letter to their group or groups. How can we work around it? Leeni ? ? ? ?

I don't think so.? I think it's a result of a change that was made a few days ago to prevent problems.

I run an ads letter. The members have to send to their groups by putting their groups in the TO: Field and then they have to CC the group's owner using the owner's email address. ? What usually happens is we then get to see who they sent the copy of the ads letter to and that they CC'd us. Ah; you mean the same sender's address.

If it only does this on one of your PCs, then it is definitely a problem with the settings in your email program on that computer.

A lot of email programs try to "help" you by throwing away the sender's name and replacing it with a name from your address book or contacts list. What you want to do is:

(1) Turn of this setting, if you can, and/or

(2) Remove incorrect entries from your address book.

Hi Frances...the funny thing I failed to mention was this appears on 1 PC only. My other PC does not do that??

I made a top-level post (sent from Thunderbird, not from the web page) to start off a new thread/topic.
When I reply to the top-level post (my own post that starts a new thread), the headers in the reply are:
Reply-to:
To:
(In that order).

When I reply to someone's reply to my post (so, not the top-level post), the only header is To: (as I would expect)?

What's going on here?? Is this a bug in Groups, or an intended behavior, or is there a setting in Thunderbird that I need to change?

(Note that I haven't seen this before.)

You can't.? That's a member function (part of their account) and they can a have a different one on each group.

You could also explain the trouble this causes to group members and tell them not to do it or they will be moderated.? You might also add this requirement to the group guidelines.
