Outlook problem
#notworking
#outlook
#ratelimited
#ipreputation
One of our group members is not receiving emails that everyone else is. They use Outlook as their mail application.
Their delivery log shows: "451 4.7.650 The mail server [xxxxxxxxx] has been temporarily rate limited due to IP reputation." ?It seems that Outlook filters our messages because of the volume coming from Groups IO. Is there a fix for this? Thanks! |

Re: Subgroup for your own Moderator's Forum?
#moderators
Bryan,
While the idea itself is sound, IMO, using a subgroup for this would really depend on how many mods you have and whether you want to have any conversations, attachments, files, photos, etc, archived for later reference or reuse when a new mod comes in, etc; if yes, a (private) subgroup would work great with all the features GIO has, although keep in mind that if you don't already have a subgroup already, there are some addressing changes that take place as stated. Taking into account the caveats already been stated, if you don't care about archiving anything or have maybe a few mods, it'll be less work just doing it through an email list; or use the +owner address as suggested, but keep in mind in this case, in order for this to work effectively, all mods will have to have the receive owner email to ON otherwise this scheme will not work well. Cheers, Christos |

Ouch! This throws a big wrench?into my plans as I'm just doing initial?testing an have only created one subgroup.? This topic has reminded me to ask about the best way to share pictures in Gio.? On a Yahoo group that I used to belong to when someone took a lot of pictures at an event they usually got put in an album.? I have not seem any mention? of albums here since I started following.??
?
There were always problems popping up on Yahoo with people being able to see both albums and individual pictures, often tied to what mail handler ws being used.? I can see a roll for both situations in the group I'm setting up.? We have a quilters group here and someone might want to post a picture of their latest creation either to the quilters subgroup or the whole facility,? perhaps as a way to solicit more quilters.? At a party someone might take a whole batch of pictures that someone might want to access with as few clicks as possible.? What are the recommended ways of handing both of these situations in Gio?

Hi all -- I'm new here and not technical.? The original owner of a longstanding Yahoo group didn't transfer the group here before the deadline to take advantage of the Easy Transfer process, and she only recently gave me admin access to move the group here.? I do have the Yahoo group file download.? I managed to import the member list, but I'm very hesitant to try to do the manual process to upload the large (and valuable) message archive and lose all the sender/date information in the process.?

After a member has left our group... <snip> ...is there a way to obtain a history of their activitiesWell yes, although I would be interested to know what you plan to do with it once you find it! FWIW I usually have a quick look when anyone leaves just to see how active they were previously and the usual finding is "not very"! Starting with the email notification of someone having left, copy the email address of the person concerned. Then go to Admin > Activity and paste that into the box above Date faintly filled with "Search" (which will disappear). I usually search for "All Actions" which produces a list of everything the person did. If you want to limit the search to messages posted then select Sent Message in the Actions box. If you want to search more generally (in terms of members who have left) then leave the Search box empty and select "Left" as the Actions. This will bring up a list of all those who have left... unsurprisingly. At this point it can become tedious as any person you want to investigate further has to be copied and pasted into the full Activity log for a further search on their individual activity. One point; I don't know if this is true of Premium and Enterprise Groups but while a departed member's group messages are stored any messages to +Owner are not. Another point, but one not limited to those who have left is that the Activity Log will maintain a record of uploaded Files & Photos, but links to uploaded photos fail if the photo name was edited after the upload. The same "fail" will occur if a created album name is edited as well; I haven't put it to the test but I would not be surprised if similar "fails" arise with uploaded files. There is no obvious workaround for this, at least not one that I have found yet... but then I haven't actively researched it, and currently have no plans to do so! Chris |
Re: Message search by numbers
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Duane, I apologize for my lack of clarity. Groups,io has established protocol for assigning message numbers. ?The individual date and time of posts establishes that numerical sequence. ?In order to compile their year/month summary, had to similarly sequence those messages brought over from Yahoo Groups. ?In such context, Yahoo message numbers are ¡°dead history¡± and of absolutely no significance.? With imported historical messages now and forever fixed, had the option of started numbering ALL of our messages ¡°here¡± with number one. ?They instead numbered our messages with number one. ?Fine. ? Every group has the universal challenge of ¡°wandering subjects¡± within specified ¡°topics¡±. ?While ¡°topics¡± are a good starting point when researching information under discussion, it is frequently only a part of a single message (or a few of them) that I wish to bring forward for current reconsideration. ?Individual message numbers, regardless of origin, are the ideal means of quick and easy specific reference between old and new ¡°content¡± under current discussion. ? Since it is already possible to view our archived messages in sequence by date and time, I was merely asking how to view the assigned message numbers that make that possible. ? While writing this up, I see you have answered this question in your answer to Victoria¡that the message number shows up in email footers. I presume a request to include message numbers in above sequential date and time listing would go to Beta? Best! WRB ¡ª?

Re: member activity history
They do have the Export function for Activity Logs, just not the Past members page where the information would all be in one place for easy access, nor other details, such as the Notes option.? If you happen to know the email address, you may be able to search the Activity Log with it to find at least some of the information.
Yes, I know. To explain: Our members always have to introduce themselves, and this introduction is saved under their first name in the files. All bloodworks analysis and tests of their animals we do for them are saved there as well. We regularly delete all this when someone unsubscribes. It very seldomly happens that a person is not identifiable, even through the Activity Log? But this is really a "luxury" issue, so never mind.Victoria |
