Moderation works well, I think, on Groups.io
If a moderator clicks to edit a post that needs moderation, a tag shows on it "claimed by joe blow".?
See this wiki page:

Overview -?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Message-Moderation
How to -?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Approving---moderating-a-message

And of course, you can moderate totally by email.

Also I should mention you can put a note in a member file - viewable only by moderators.
Go to Admin, Members. Choose a member name. That's where you can see email delivery history. But there is a Notes button. That's where it would be.

That depends on what you mean by email information". Check that the address from which your member is sending is the one that is registered with your group/Groups.io.

Until you mentioned job hunting, I thought the group was for coffee lovers of Starbucks. :)

Otherwise, Our group is 2,783 membership coming over from GeoCities to Yahoo to GroupsIO.?

Since the move, 91 have signed up.? That's not even a full 5% of the old membership.? Thus, this topic has my interest greatly.?? Many of our group's folks are mechanics and not computer savvy.? Sure, they can read emails on their smarty phones and reply, but put them in front of a computer and they become lost.

Before the move from Yahoo to GroupsIO, folks asked if the membership needs to just be 'switched' without doing anything on their part.? Without funds, it wasn't possible to do this.

Hoping to hear how this goes.? I wouldn't mind entering a few dozen to a few hundred in batches.

But there are problems.
The messages I received are From : me,? Reply to : me , Arrg!
There seems no log or record Delivery of the Special Message ( wanted to check the delivery details, who from, who to. )
- You can change your display name to Owner if you wish.

- You can send a message to an individual member:
From the wiki:?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Owner-emails
Note to Member / Member Notices
?
You can also send a "note to member" with just the group owner email address. Your personal login email address will not show.
?
Go to Members. Select the member.
Go to +Owner Messages button.
Click Reply.
If Note To Member doesn't come up, change to that from the dropdown list.
BCC yourself or all mods.
Send.
The message will only have the group owner email address.

- You could also create a new email address that hides your identity and post with that. (Create a second account.) Be careful that you don't delete the owner email address.

- Be sure that email addresses are hidden in the message archive.

1. See?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/20-Invitations-Limit

2. Yes, members remain if you downgrade to free. In fact, it is recommended that you get premium for a month if you have a large group of members to add all at once.

3. They must register with Groups.io with the email address. But it is automated when you direct add someone. If they don't have an account with that email address, they will get the necessary email that creates it.

Some groups have a mod's forum - a subgroup. You can hide the group from the main group, if you wish (doesn't show in the menu on the left.)

Re: Completely edit default messages for invites, direct add, etc

?I have being trying to do the same as the OP, particularly to the Invite message.? The method described in the Wiki page that you linked to does not work, it simply fixes the message in the middle of the default message.

In desperation I believed that by deleting the invite message from the list then going to add new one I would start off with a totally blank form that could complete and lose the default message. I was wrong and to make matters worse to get the Invite message to appear in the message list I had to add something in the optional message box; even a full stop suffices.

I have yet to find a method of stopping the default message appearing; a message that doesn't suit my needs.

The OPs comment about the Invite option below the optional message box, which doesn't appear to perform any function, hasn't been addressed.

It would seem they might not be sending from a subscribed email address and/or to the correct address.

Have them resend their message and CC your personal email address.
Tell them this will alert you when they are trying to post, so that you can better check what is happening.
Check that the address they are sending from is subscribed (and permitted to post), and that they are sending it to the correct email address.

I missed a point in my earlier post; if the person is sending from an address that is not listed it should still show up on the Activity Log as "non - member xxx tried to post" or words to that effect.

And Michael has raised a good point; make sure that the person's posting privilege is not set to Override; not permitted to post, although I would have thought that the attempt would still appear in the Activity Log.

The most likely reason for the failure is an error in the (group) address to which it is being sent; that warrants very close scrutiny.

Twice.

Re: What are the issues we may face with Direct Adding members? #direct

Denise,

I am also administrating a new group.? I would like similar info especially on #2.

FYI - i have just moved from Yahoo to Groupsio in December.? Our group is 550 strong.? Everything transferred?very neatly.? Now it's just a learning curve about how to effectively manage the group and it's features.? i really wish there was an operators manual or something.? I did the transfer with the Groupsio bulk transfer facility.??

I believe, and I have no proof of this,? but as you add directly Groupsio builds a groupsio account as you go.? So between the invite and the member acceptance,? groupsio has everything it needs to create an account for that member.? At least that is the way it seems like it is working for me.

We are a non-profit finding job opportunities for experienced sales and marketing?in the Twin Cities area.??

What are the issues we may face with Direct Adding members? #direct

Re: How to send GroupOwner+ messages #howto #groupowner

I had to check the variables with my test group. The result is that there is no simple method to do this.

A Special Notice is from the Owner but the reply is to the group. The From line structure is:
? ? [Group Name]@groups.io on behalf of [Owner or Moderator] via Groups.io <[Group Name]+owner@...>

The only current way to do this would be to visit your Members page under Admin, scroll all the way to the bottom so that all members show on the page (assuming you still have the default Infinite Scroll in your preferences), then go back to the top, check the checkbox next to Display Name and then choose Action -> Send Message.

That will definitely send the message to each individual with the From line showing:
? ? [Group Name][email protected]

Even so, I'm not sure why you would choose to do this rather than simply posting to the group. Depending on your member count, you would invite a potential onslaught of messages that could last for weeks.
