Happy New Year and Thanks
Dear Owners and Moderators of GMF, ? I want to thank you for the enormous job you did, especially in the past few months managing the issues, questions and needs of so many newcomers to groups.io! It seems to have been a ¡°rock around the clock¡± challenge to all of you, and I really admire your remaining calm and composed in spite of the fact that questions just answered were repeated again and again and new ones seemed to burst upon you by the minute. ? It must be mentioned that your work here doubtlessly eased to a large extent the task that Mark had to perform in these ¡°rough¡± times and that it was (and is) a valuable accompaniment to his extraordinary performance. I hope you can get some recreation and stay healthy! ? I wish all of you a happy and peaceful NEW YEAR 2020! ? Victoria ? |
Re: Restoring a Deleted Group
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThis was a Yahoo Group, when I pushed delete it asked if I was sure. When I pushed delete again, it told me that I had 15 days to restore the group before it was gone. Is this not the right group for questions about the old Yahoo Groups? ? This whole group debacle was a disaster. I had almost 52,000 members on my list and then was given, by Yahoo, roughly 2 months¡¯ notice that they were changing the way the Groups worked. I scrambled to get my people added to the Google Groups, but could add only 100 a day, with no way to do a bulk import. ? Then after December 14th, all of a sudden the email groups that I seriously depended on stopped offering images and the links didn¡¯t work. ? Yesterday morning, in an email telling my subscribers that they needed to sign up for the Google Groups if they wanted to keep getting our emails, Yahoo started bouncing all of the messages all over the place. For example, if one person replied and told me they wanted to unsubscribe all of a sudden everyone got that message, not just me, which intensified causing lots more people to want to unsubscribe, which tossed even more messages to everyone on the list. It was if everyone did a ¡°reply all¡±. ? The only way to stop this was to shut the list down, which brings me to my current dilemma. I was told in the ¡°delete groups¡± page that I had 15 days to restore any groups that I deleted but I now can¡¯t find where to do that. ? There is only one that I want to restore, but my groups aren¡¯t even listed on the ¡°My Groups¡± page anymore. ? Any help is appreciated, all I need to do is to restore 1 of the groups. ? Re: Save a picture from PHOTOS
Ken,
But once the image is copied n pasted, does it matter the originalIt has been a while since I tested it, but if you used drag-n-drop (which many people think is the same as copy/paste) then in the case of an image in a web browser it was the URL that was copied, not the image data itself. If you used a "Copy Image" function in the browser then I believe you would get the content, same as a copy from your device. I also copied/pasted onto a wiki page (from an emailed image and fromI had that problem when pasting into a wiki page from the Screenshot function in older versions of Firefox - back when one of the options was to upload and edit the image. It turns out that copying after editing put the image's (URL) on the clipboard, to be pasted into the wiki page. That looked fine in the editor, and even immediately after saving the image, but would disappear later when Mozilla discarded the edited image. I spotted one of those in GMF's wiki a while ago and I've been meaning to replace it. Firefox's current Screenshot function puts the image data on the clipboard when you copy it, as does Win10's Snipping tool or Snip & Sketch, so those work fine. Re: Joining the subgroup directly still not possible?
June,
I don't want members of the main group to get any subgroup messagesYes. As Frances said you've got controls (in each subgroup's Settings page) to control whether primary group members can see that the subgroup exists, and whether they can read it's messages. But only subgroup members will receive its messages by email. Do I have to tell people they need to subscribe to the main groupThat would be the safest approach, at least until the investigations in this topic are resolved and maybe bug-fixes or improvements implemented. They must be primary group members in order to be in a subgroup, there's no question about that. But, depending on how they join the subgroup, subscription to the primary group might happen automatically. I believe it works that way with Invite; I thought it worked that way with both Join and +subscribe, but this topic exists because some have found that it doesn't work that way. I haven't tested this myself in quite some time. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |
