Re: Message time stamps how accurate are they

please note that I have now set my time to the correct time zone. that was one of the problems but not all.?

I need to get to the source code for messages that are sent by me.

Re: Avoiding storing attached photos

Ray,
?
Like Bruce mentioned, moderate any messages with an attachment. :)
?
I've seen some of the gmx emails with soft nudity images attached as ads.? So, moderating ANY messages with attachments is a good thing really.
?
To prevent emails with attachments coming in, set the resolution to something like 488x488, it's about the size of a 3x5 card and is very small in KB size.
?
Another option, create a members upload FILE section that you can moderate.? Then move the FILE to another location for read, viewing, download access only.
?
These are all suggestions, some or all could be applicable to how your group wants to function.
?

Have you set your time zone in your account? Top right corner of the group page.?

I believe the time stamp is from the GIO server when it's received.? If it's a moderated message, the time stamp will be the time it's approved, but will have the received time in the source code view.

Or create a notice of type Monthly Reminder and set it as active.? You can't actually send the contents of a file like you could on YG, so you have to include the text wanted or a link to a file.

I think I figured it out.? The sidebar doesn't like Markdown.? It seems to accept the information, but isn't translating it properly, resulting in what you're seeing.? Markdown seems to work fine on regular pages though.? I'd report it to [email protected] as a bug.? For now, you can get around it by using html to create the sidebar.

One other note.? I originally created a sidebar using html, then tried to add to it after changing my preference to markdown.? Instead of the markdown toolbar, I got the html version.? I deleted the sidebar, recreated it it using markdown, and got the bad results.? It looks like whatever you use initially will become the default for it, but I'm not sure if that's really wrong.

This is a common problem. See?/g/GroupManagersForum/topic/32652796?for a recent discussion.

I find no way to avoid including the photo when replying, but I'm sure there is a way.
Using the GIO web interface, simply do not quote that portion of the original message.?Using your email client, the methods differ widely...there is no single answer.?

I can always delete the duplicates periodically but it is time consuming.
How to avoid storing the duplicates?
Groups.io has no way to determine if an incoming photo was sent intentionally or inadvertently. Even a dupe can be intentional.

You could put all messages with attachments on moderation (Admin>Settings>Message Formatting>Attachments) and delete any dupes before they post. Otherwise, there is no way to keep this from happening, and you will have to continue to clean things up after the fact.

Re: Monthly reminder?

You mean like the one you just got?!

I haven't set it up myself but we do have a wiki page on it.
Why not review that and then ask. Those who set up GMF's or another can answer your questions.
Hope this helps on this holiday.

Here was my process:
Created pages covering Various Topics (about 30 as of now)
Created Main Topic pages (8 of them) and linked each of the Various Topic pages to the appropriate Main Topic pages.?
Created a Side Bar with text describing the 8 Main Topics and then linked each of the 8 Main Topics to the appropriate Side Bar text entry.?
