Re: re deleting attachments

I think this is what Bill meant:

1. Go to where you want to start deleting.
2. Copy the URL out of the address bar in your browser. (Never heard it called a "screen command.")
3. Do your deletes.
4. Paste the copied URL back into the address bar to get back to the original page.

Looking at your email delivery history here in GMF, I see a lot of "blocked" and "server unavailable" errors. Past posts with the same complaint suggest this is typical behavior for spectrum/charter/rr...it's been reported over and over again. You could complain to Charter, as you are paying them to deliver emails to you, and they aren't holding up their end of the contract. But if you really want it to go away, your best bet is to get a gmail account or something like that.

At least groups.io tells you what's going on. Yahoo Groups would just silently fail to deliver your stuff.

I believe the problem may well be with windows mail as a server for email.

Bill, I see you are using rr.com and there is a message there about mail forwarding. Could that be the reason?

Ummm... what's a breadcrumb?

Usually this refers to a string of links at the top of the page that give the path from the home page to the current page, for example:
Home>Pictures>Mountains>Wyoming>2019>IMG0123.jpg

If you are viewing IMG0123.jpg, click 2019 to see the album. Click Wyoming to see all years. Click Mountains to see mountain pictures for all states, all years. Etc.

Not sure if G.IO lets you nest albums this deeply.

Re: Searching for Photo Albums

If you know a filename that's in the wanted directory, search for that. That will put you in the directory.

Unless it's something else.

No.? There's not a way to search for an album, only photos.? Once you're at one of the photos in the album, you can use the 'breadcrumb' at the top to go to the album overview though.

Re: Breadcrumbs (was: Searching for Photo Albums)

Well, ok, but that does not get me to the album or even the page of albums with the album containing the individual photo I searched for. I click the individual photo and see the enlarged single photo and I see the text string of addresses (what you are calling the breadcrumb text string of hyperlinks), ending in the single photo name. If I click on the album Title just to the left of the photo title, I get to the contents of the album. If I click on the next item to the left in the string, "Photo Albums," that gets me to the first Photos webpage with 20 album cover photos but the album containing the individual photo is not on that page of album thumbnails.

I don't see a way to get from the individual photo to the album cover that includes the individual photo.

At lease, that is how my Firefox browser works...

Sometimes you really want to look at the album to see what cover photo was selected. I know how to select an individual photo as the album cover but I can't find the album without looking through 600+ albums in this Group.

Are you seeing something I am not?

First I was told there were hamburgers and now breadcrumbs on these pages. Clarity is lacking...

Re: re deleting attachments

Thanks Bill B,
I had occasionally seen a drop down menu when clicking on the back button and wondered why... that is very helpful.

I'll still have to do a refresh to get the page after the deletions, but your tip will save time.

I had thought about just leaving it all till I had used up the space and allow the old attachments to be deleted automatically, but that leaves orphaned emails, which doesn't make sense. No point in having an email which says "here's some layer styles" and there is nothing there... lol.
Thanks again.
Win

In most browsers, if you click and hold on the Back button it shows a dropdown list of previous screens, and you can then go directly to the one you want. More useful if you want to go back a long way, of course.

Re: out of control fonts

If you're not aware of it, just hit Ctrl-+ one or more times to expand the font size. Ctrl- [minus] to shrink it. This works in all the browsers that I am have tried. Once you've set this, it remains in effect for that browser tab or window until you change it.

Deleting a subgroup then creating it again

I know if you delete a main group that group name isn't available for
a period of time. Is this the case with a subgroup if I delete it to
clear out messages then create the same names subgroup again?

We often speak of sending someone to Admin>Settings>Message Policies>etc. That path is a breadcrumb. As?a more direct example of what Duane was talking about, see the screenshot below...the breadcrumbs are circled in red.

It isn't that similar to Facebook; Facebook has emoticons to compound the "problem"; Groups.io doesn't... thank goodness.

I think Sandi Kozinn makes a very valid point; "likes" are much less cluttering than posts simply sent in agreement.

In practice many users will have no idea that any given post has been "liked" for the simple reason that they use whatever groups they are members of by email only, and of course there is no "like" provision by email.

OK; if they were optional it would be a matter of choice for the group owner, but I wouldn't want them to be simply removed. They are, IMHO, harmless, and once Mark has had time to recover from the recent melee there will, I suspect, be more significant changes to consider.
Chris,

I pretty much agree with what you're saying.

But playing the devil's advocate, I could add that some people *WANT* more conversation going on. Something about being social, or whatever.

What are these emotion things you speak of that aren't available in GIO? Did you mean like these: :-) :-| :-( or like these: ?????
