Re: Yahoo group deadline extension #yahoo #transfer

My data request worked and when I downloaded the huge file and took a look, I found some interesting things:

1 - it downloaded data from ALL my Yahoo groups, not just the ones I moderate/own
2 - messages were also downloaded (file format I could open only with Notepad ++)
3 - the only photos downloaded were ones that I uploaded - no idea why all photos weren't downloaded

Time-Warner Cable (twc) is a legacy domain currently owned by Charter.

Charter/rr/spectrum seems to be throttling groups.io messages again:

pkvw-mx.msg.pkvw.co.charter.net: 421 p-impin011.msg.pkvw.co.charter.net cmsmtp 66.175.222.12 blocked AUP#CMPOL

Re: Yahoo group deadline extension #yahoo #transfer

Stick with it!

I presume Yahoo's servers are getting a lot of these requests. Using PGO yesterday, I was denied access a bunch of times (a probably I didn't have earlier in the week), and then suddenly, I was able to log on and download what I needed without further hassle.

Good luck!

Generally, yes.

Subgroup members are also members of the main group...it is not possible to join the subgroup without joining the main group. So under normal circumstances anything posted to the main group will be be received by everyone. However, such emails can be restricted on an individual basis using normal mail filters (e.g.: "follow only") and subscription options (e.g. "no email").

B - if so should the umbrella group also have their own sub group Internal management?
I don't understand what you mean by this.

I used the yahoogroupedia application (found, as above at PBWorks) for "Chrome" (in fact any Chromium based web browser) with good results.

Ran it in Vivdali web browser. No tool bar Apps button shows, so enter
vivaldi://apps in the address bar for a new page showing them.

Gave me a text file. I opened (imported) it in Libre Office (MS Office would likely work) and created a .csv (MS) and .ods (ODF) spreadsheet files. That allowed me to highlight a single column of addies which I used in the GIO invitations area.

If you use the yahoogroupedia Messages application it too will show up on the page brought up by vivaldi://apps

Cheers, John

Yes, but somehow PGO gets around that limit. Yesterday I downloaded ca 4500 members to Excel using it.
BTW, it's a bit non-obvious how to do this. The process is two-step: Download; then Export to Excel.

BUT, it only seems to work for the active members. I'd also like to download the bouncing list, but that doesn't seem possible.

You can capture the entire member list including all of the fields displayed on the "Manage Members" page, by saving that page as a *.txt file from your browser (Cntl-S). Obviously one has to have moderator status to view the member list.

Note: This only captures the info in raw form. Use a plain text editor to extract and reformat it

Re: Owner really messed up and got dropped #changeemail

I did not think of loosing content but messages I sent in all three groups seem to be still there.? I had not done any photos so no worries there.

To be sure I only deleted the errant addresses and I could not have sent any messages with that anyway.? I guess I was tied to the correct addresses though since I had done the change address but as I said, all messages are still in place.? Guess that makes sense as even when members drop out of a group, their items remain archived.

Bottom line is all seems to be working fine in all three of my groups (only one of which I own) and nothing seems lost.? I am eternally grateful to the GMF for the assistance and leading to the resolution of this.? I only gained a few more gray hairs.

David

Alex,

Ah, I hope you got EVERYTHING from YG NOW.? And I do mean NOW.

WHY?

YG will be going DARK today.? Not sure if it's 12-noon or 12-midnight Eastern Time Zone.

We are no longer moments to the clock striking 12-midnight, we are now SECONDS away.?

I tried sending a subscribe email to a group I'm already in.? A bit surprisingly, I got nothing back, nor any notice in the logs.? The only time you'd see an entry would be if they didn't already have a subscription.? I'd have that member check the spam/junk folder since they're shown to be getting emails.

It looks like you'll have to do them individually.? The MemberID, in this case 7237133, isn't included in any of the downloadable information as far as I can tell.

If you're only seeing your messages online, then no one else is sending messages to the group.? The only time you'd see only yours would be if you clicked on the "All Messages By This Member" option.

A person can't join a group with the same email address, not with one that is already subscribed.?
You can see subscription requests in Admin, Activity, Members.

David -- I'm kinda confused by the above, to be honest. But I do suspect the account with the "gmail.net" address may have owned some content, both here and in other groups. The reason I was recommending doing another "change email address" was to avoid losing that.

So be sure to follow up and see if you now need to reassign any photos or files to yourself. As for messages, ownership of those could be irretrievably lost now.

So I am back in business and have two owners (both of which are myself). ?THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. ??
Great! Still, it's odd that this could have happened in the first place.
