Re: re pending member

Win,

However I thought that they were not members until approved.
They aren't.

The notice is confusing, and so is the process, a bit. There isn't a specific command to rescind my +subscribe request, so one uses the +unsubscribe feature to do that. It works out that way, as in the end you're not subscribed to the group; whether a mod approved you before you rescinded your request or not.

That is, whether it rescinds your request or actually unsubscribes you is only a matter of timing (a race between you and the mod who might have approved you).

Re: support

23157 is good, better access and response when members/owners whoever need help.

I realize you and Duane and shal can answer questions, but when owners have problems they sometimes need support, to fix them or tell them how to fix them.
i've seen a few posts sayinig they've emailed with no response.? Suggestions have been made here by mods that posters email support. as used to happen on yahoo manager groups.? When we had support.

Re: Owner really messed up and got dropped #changeemail

I did read the entire thread.? I thought he had another owner, sorry about that.? One thing we were all taught when neo hit was to have at least 2 onwers, and lots of us made ourselves owners under different email addys.

As the sole owner, there is no one else to promote him.

Re: Dreaded REPLY TO request for understanding

In one of my Ygroups we actually sent out a monthly message with a proven technique for responding to an email message, snipping the message, changing the "to" line, and other matters.?

These were sent out automatically on the first (or, as time went on, within a week of the first.....usually).

As for what his priorities should be, I'm not prepared to make any assertions.

We're here to avoid overloading Mark with the "simple" questions.? Many of us have been around since near the beginning and can assist with most items.? If not, we'll point you toward support.? With the YG mess in progress, he wasn't answering any support emails.? Now he's given priority to Premium groups.? There's no telling how big the pile got, so patience is needed.? BTW, He'll be on vacation starting tomorrow, until Jan 6, per his post in beta.

Special Notices. What constitutes a special notice and how does a moderator create one?

Eric Johnson

Right now I am an owner of our groups "Board" sub-group. There's really no reason for me to continue in this role except for emergencies. I was looking at the subscription tool and discovered the "Special Notices only" mode. It dawns on me that this may be the ideal mode for me to be in in that I wouldn't interfere with or even be privy to Board actions. So, I've scanned the Wiki on this and there is very little said.

For instance, how would the real owner send or designate a message as special? Would any other members of the group see it? Etc

Thanks.

Eric Johnson

Re: Change order of posts in a topic

Sun Seeker

Thankyou Bruce

I did notice the "Date" Link for my message list. I was hoping however that there was a global setting. My concern is that people unfamiliar with the format will see only the "original" post and not realize there is a new reply. I do recognize that a new reply will show up on the top of the list and will have the bold heading so it may not be an issue.

Sun Seeker -- Click on the "Date" link at upper right to invert the

should be "remembered" until you (perhaps inadvertently) change it

That does not make sense to me but if it does, then I will try it. ?To be specific, I would ask to join a Premium Group with the errant email address (of which I would never get a confirmation email to) and then owner of that group would backdoor confirm me and thus I would be confirmed in my owned group at the same time.
David -- It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me either, but you're correct...a "bad" email address (e.g.: one incapable of receiving messages) can still be confirmed by having a Premium group owner Direct Add that address to his list of subscribers.

To refresh, my situation is where I, the sole owner of a regular group, tried to change my address and goofed typing it in. ?I am now listed as NC because the confirmation email never came to me since it is a bogus address with the wrong extension. ?And I am unable to get into my group to make any correction since I am NC.?
Confirmation may not help you with this, as you have to log in to change it. If the bad address can't receive an email and you have no password set up you're still going to find yourself stuck.

Nope.? The online archives are supposed to disappear after tomorrow, so GIO would have no way to access the information.? That information is only if you want to use the getmydata request from YG directly.
