Shal, thanks for the info!? I read yahoo's new help page the other day, and it appears I need 3 new programs to read everything.? Yay!? I'm not technical, and have never heard of these readers or file types.? Everything is just raw data hieroglyphics.? I thought a word type program would be able to make them friendly.? Apparently not. ?
It does not appear to contain complete content of Files, Photos, or Attachements (at least in my downloads)
V. disappointing :(? Glad they will be here, at least!? Can I DL, say, files, from groups.io to my hard drive/OneDrive/google docs/dropbox?? What about msgs?? Sorry that answer's probably on a wiki page or something. BTW, I figured out why many/most of my links did not migrate to groups.io.? It was not a yahoo glitch.? I had such a big library of links that I had them organized into folders then subfolders in the links section.? Since groups.io doesn't have the capability to create subfolders in links section (or not that I could figure out, anyway), those in subfolders were the ones that did not come over.? Only links in main folders migrated.? Maybe in future subfolder support can be added.? In the meantime, I am manually importing the missed links one by one (edit link>copy>paste) and creating subcategories by simply repeating the main topic then using a colon and each subtopic.? It looks repetitive in the index, but maintains the organisation.? I thought I'd mention this if no one has brought it up yet, in case it helps someone. Droxine

It is easy to say decommission and move on. Groups have a role to play. Thankfully we have an option today due to the foresight of Mark. With a good business plan we can see groups continue to flourish. Many professionals such as myself depend of groups to help us provide outstanding service to our clients who deserve such service. Only those who have experienced the power of groups can understand why groups have long future and all of us should support a self sustaining business plan. Nothing is free in life. Everyone has a price to pay and should pay cheerfully because of the value we get back.

A good strategy for someone using PGO-2-GIO for the first time is to pick a throwaway group name and do as many upload/delete cycles as needed. This will screen out bad attachments, file names munged by Yahoo, and other oddities. Once the messages and files have been groomed as needed, create the new group name and do a final upload. Then delete the throwaway group.
I had suggested that Wilson include an instruction to that effect with the final version.

A bit of followup on Bruce's comment.? You might want to create your new group after changing the name of the 'old' one.? If you are getting duplicate emails, you can check the last line of each duplicate to see which of your email addresses it was sent to. Then if you want, you can set one of them to ¡°no email.¡±

Thanks to Duane, this seems to have solved my problem. It appears that my earlier setting to ¡°no email¡± did not take, so I just re-set it and it looks like that did the trick.

Tim -- You should find the open poll among your messages. If you are struggling to find it, go to your Home page and click on the #poll hashtag. Click open the poll itself and you'll see something like the screenshot below. Note the "See Results" link...click on that to, well, see the results. In the screenshot below, I have clicked on the More menu at bottom right to open the popup dialog. If you select "Edit Poll" (as I have done here), there will be a "Close Poll" button at the bottom of the resulting page. As you can see, several other options are available, see? /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Polls?for further information. Bruce

Receiving duplicate emails
I have just successfully transferred our local neighborhood email network of 900+ members from Yahoogroups to Groups.io. I was able to transfer our members¡¯ email addresses and upload the most important files to Groups.io pretty painlessly. I also set up a subgroup for our board of directors. ? I am the owner and a moderator on our new Groups.io group. I am also a member of both the main group and the board group. ? I am finding that after I approve a message for posting, I am receiving two copies of it. I do have more than one email address on the group but have chosen ¡°no email¡± for all except one address. ? I¡¯ve searched in the Managers Forum archive and Wiki, but can¡¯t find what¡¯s causing this duplication or how to fix it. Am I getting a second copy because of my membership in both the main and subgroup? Or because I am the owner or moderator as well as a member? ? I¡¯d appreciate your help on this, so that I get only one copy of each email after it¡¯s approved and posted to the group. ? Thank you, Terry Tegnazian ?
