Re: How does the reject message process work?
In my testing just now, I thought I would try rejecting through email, rather than on the group site. The needs Message Approval Needed email says: To reject this message using email, and to have the sender notified of this, forward this message to:
GroupManagersForum+reject+1905519+19+3587565863729549762@groups.io
?
To delete this message using email, forward this message to:
It is not particularly intuitive. I finally figured out that I must copy the Reject link (e-mail address), then click on FORWARD for the full Message Approval Needed email, and paste in the copied address in the new (forwarding) email.
Be sure to send the forwarding email from your owner/moderator email address. I just tested again and if you have a rejection notice, using the forwarding adds that notice to the email notification. Re: Invite accepted!

Sorry for the confusion. I am at the stage where I await Groups.io to accept my invitation to join Yahoo group. I currently have 4 windows open on the screen . . . email, Yahoo, Groups.io showing the instructions, and Groups.io showing the matrix of selections to be transferred. I am afraid to close them for fear that I'll interrupt the process. As i said, I'm? a bit paranoid right now.

I sent an email from another email address (this is a member of my test group.) I rejected the message using one of my "canned" rejection notices.? I see the email saying my message was rejected and the text of my rejection notice. Nothing else. Is it because I have created the notice in Member Notices for my group? How does the reject message process work?
Mary R Frank
I subscribe to my own list with a separate (2nd) email address that I use to test processes.? I rejected my own message and it went to my test email account noting that it was rejected (with the personal message I sent, asking myself to redo the email and resubmit it to the group). I noticed that when I received the rejected message in my test email program, there were three green buttons at the bottom:? Please resubmit, Approved, and Yes, I approve.? What are those buttons for?? I couldn't find any documentation on what the recipient is supposed to do with those buttons.? It seems that each one opens an email back to the owner, but I don't understand the point.? ?Is this supposed to be a way for the recipient to redo their "bad" message and send it back to the group? If so, how come when I tested it, my fixed message didn't go back into the group's pending list? |
Re: Export database with images
Thanks again Duane.....
I need something for the casual user. ?We are creating a catalog of statues, front view, rear view and description. ?I can do it in Excel, but again, one must be well versed with Excel to succeed there.. We have folks looking into Google Docs, but I don't have much hope for that.... The Groups.io database would have been perfect, if it would have worked to our needs. Regards, Chuck |

Transferring steps and stages
The official instructions talk about steps. You need to monitor progress until you have made the transfer agent a moderator and gone back to the transfer page and clicked to actually start the transfer.
Steps To Transfer Your GroupThese steps?must be done in this order?otherwise the group transfer process will not happen.
You can relax when step 6 starts! ? There are details of the transfer process on the GMF wiki page. It gives details of the process and even has screenshots of the STAGES of it. The stages are more specific. If you are asking advice, please check the stage here: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Transfer-from-Yahoo-Groups |

Correct. I wish this were true, but it's probably too late to suggest such a tweak to the Easy Group Transfer process. To be clear, groups.io will send you an email once they have accepted your invite. The only way to know if the Yahoo Groups invitation has gone out and been received by groups.io is to check your status page as noted above. At that point it will say "We have received your invite and will accept it soon..." Bruce |

I thought you meant that you were well on your way. But you asked on Beta? About how long will it take from when I sent the invite from Yahoo until the invitation is accepted and we can make Groups.io a moderator.?When did you invite transfer to your Yahoo Group? If it still says If the status is the message that starts "Make sure you have sent an invite to your group", do it. Again, if it is over 6 hours. Watch for the acceptance email. Then upgrade the transfer agent to moderator of your Yahoo Group. See this post:?/g/GroupManagersForum/message/25199 Frances |
If you are stalled at the invitation stage
#transfer
If the status is the message that starts "Make sure you have sent an invite to your group":
?
This means that Groups.io has not received your invite yet and that you should send another one. They will send you an email once they have received an invite.
If this message hasn't been updated within 6 hours of you sending your invite, please send another one. This notice will be updated when they have received your invite.? Check your transfer status -? ?
Go to the Yahoo transfer page at /yahootransfer
Select the transfer you want to check status on from "Existing Transfers" at lower right (i.e.: click on the name)
The box at the top of the resulting page will tell you the status of that transfer.
Repeat for any other transfers you may have in progress.

There is a checkbox of what you want transferred. See the screenshot on this page. /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Transfer-from-Yahoo-Groups Just be sure to check off in Group Admin, Settings what you want to happen with old attachments if you are over storage. Remember that messages don't count towards storage. Just get going or you might miss the boat! That wiki page (above) also says: Assess Group Storage Needs
There are limits to how much storage your group is allowed under the Basic (free) plan...see /static/pricing for details. Transfers by the transfer agent require at least Premium account for a full year. With that account level you are not allowed to have more than 10 GB of storage in use for Files and Photos.
?
If your Yahoo group contains more than 10 GB of files and photos, the transfer agent will stop the transfer at that point and send you an email asking what you want to do. This can result in delays and confusion, especially if the inquiry lands in your spam folder. It's usually better to take measures to mitigate this ahead of time; for example, you can set up your group to downscale oversize images, and this can be used to reduce your storage needs during the transfer itself. Limiting images to -- say -- 1024 pixels in the long dimension can significantly reduce your storage footprint while being more than adequate for viewing online.

Thanks. Just setting up a group now and trying to figure out how to keep attachments from needlessly taking up space. In the yahoo list I'm transferring, most attachments are photos of items that were to be sold or given away, and there is no need to keep them. Maybe use of hashtags would be one way to manage this type of e-mail attachment.

Frances-
This is really a minor issue but with the date issue and suspense . . . I am currently logged in to both Yahoo page and also the groups.io page with the "Start Group Transfer Process" green button. Dare I close the Groups.io page and go on with my chores? I would really hate to close it at step 4 and screw up the process. I'm more than a bit paranoid about the transfer given the 2 weeks we spent getting the Yahoo group to accept me as a member and then owner. |
