Bicka; Jim makes a very good point; did the email say the person had joined or rejoined your group? I take it you still have that email...

Numbered addresses are not allowed on groups.io. This domain provides "throwaway" email addresses of the kind often used by spammers.?

Bob -- What Frances said...click the Date link at upper right to invert the sort order.

A search on my own subject is not finding it even 15 minutes after sending..
All GMF messages are moderated, so that has to happen first. Then to be found by the search engine, each message has to be indexed. The indexing job runs on a separate machine and sometimes lags behind, especially if there is a lot of server load (like when groups are being transferred).

Bob, this is a moderated peer-to-peer group. I guess the other volunteer moderators are busy at this point.

I just approved (moderated) your messages and I see inadvertently I approved a duplicate.

You sent the same message twice - at 4:22 and at 4:25. This email about the delay was sent at 4:34 (All ET).

I don't have an answer for you about the email address but is it possible it is spammy looking to the system? Hopefully someone will answer your query about the invite mechanism.

Online, go to Date at the top of the search results (or indeed, message archive) and click on the small arrow to reverse the date order. You can also change from relevance ranking to date ranking or vice-versa.

Were they perhaps a previous member that got a "marked as spam" message and removed from the group?? If so,? they got a link to rejoin the group.? If they took that link then they will simply be re added to the group without your approval because they had previously been members.

Bicka -- Did you send that person an invitation??

Groups.io assumes that anyone you invite doesn't need to be approved...otherwise, you wouldn't have invited them.

I've never heard such a thing mentioned.? You'll probably need to delete everything manually that should have gone to the second group.? You'd also need to do another transfer, choosing the correct destination this time, for that group.
But I would hold off awhile - see this thread about the Yahoo outage:

Yes.? They can also do that if you make them a moderator with the Set Moderator Privileges permission (promote themselves, then delete you.)

Reverse transfer?

I requested two group transfers from Yahoo to two new groups I created on Groups.io but both of my Yahoo groups got transferred to one of my new groups.

Mark suggested I reverse the transfer of the wrongly transferred group.

How does one reverse a transfer?

Thank you in advance,

Marti Lovejoy

I would request a download from Yahoo Groups - if it is possible.
And perhaps check out other strategies for downloading like PG Offline.
And then I would wait awhile. Get my group all ready for the import if YG becomes accessible again.

I know that Yahoo Mail was down for part of a day on Monday or Tuesday. (I use Y mail to get web access to a Rogers email account.) But then was up and fine.?So... fingers crossed!

From the FAQ in the wiki about transferring:

(b) Moving message archive, photos, etc. yourself:
?
You can download content from Yahoo - see /g/GroupManagersForum/message/19430?
?
There are a few third-party solutions to do that, including PG OFFLINE, and a Chrome browser plugin
?
The problem is what to do with the message archive once downloaded; as there is really no good way to re-upload it to groups.io, to re-link individual messages to their owners, or to provide online message search capability. ?It's not the same as a transfer and loses "ownership", but Lena has a way to get the messages into the archive, /g/GroupManagersForum/message/22251?
?
An option is simply to print the collection of old messages to a PDF file; at which point you can upload that to the files area of your group. That will give you something, even if it isn't conveniently indexed and searchable.

Don't give up hope! See this message on the Easy Group Transfer page:

Yahoo Groups currently has an outage that is preventing us from transferring groups. We do not know if or when this outage will be fixed. Until it is, we have disabled new group transfer requests. Please do not upgrade your group to Premium until we know that the outage has been fixed. We will announce here when that happens.
