Re: Catch-22: Can't Transfer Yahoo Group

You cannot send an invitation? Are you a moderator or owner of the Yahoo group?

I just recently completed my 10th or so transfer, maybe Yahoo will no longer allow you to invite members?

I noticed things changed a bit on Yahoo groups, but I went to one of my Yahoo groups and I can still make invitations.

Thousands of groups have been transferred using the information, so I'm not sure what your problem is.? Try going to /g/GroupManagersForum/message/24431 and carefully following all the steps, IN ORDER.

The only files on GIO that may open in the browser are PDF.? All others require either a download or file extension association with a program on her computer.

Re: Merge Groups

Wouldn't it just take a json import function, since we already have an export function?

(having an import function would also allow people to independently back up their forums, hint hint, useful)

Catch-22: Can't Transfer Yahoo Group

Unable to "invite" <[email protected]> to become a member of my existing Yahoo group, which is Step 3 in the transfer process.

To invite new members, Yahoo requires that they have a "Yahoo ID" [account] with a valid Yahoo email address.
SHAME on IO for not knowing this, and simply providing <[email protected]>.
And stupid of me to have pre-paid $220 (in STEP 1) without being able to execute Step 3.

I seek a way out of this, either:
1) Finding a way to invite a valid Yahoo-ID equivalent of <[email protected]>
or
2) Getting my money back, for blatant misrepresentation on the part of IO

I need to check further on this business of her seeing extensions. Maybe I misunderstood her. But I do know for sure she says there are many files she can open at yahoo but when she tries at groups io they won¡¯t open. And we can¡¯t figure out why.?

Thank you

If they're not visible, they weren't included.? You can edit the file to include that.? Many (all?) browsers and operating systems allow you to set up default associations so that a particular program is used to open certain file extensions.? If none has been set up for a given situation, nothing happens.

Mark seems to be receptive to the idea of moving messages between a main group and it's subgroup(s), but isn't very enthusiastic about moving things between groups.? That would be a huge task to program (and debug) and would be waaaay down the road if it ever happened.

I want to merge 2 groups too, but if I could only move messages from one to another that would be enough, but looks like there is no message forwarding... I can export messages to json, but cannot import.... suggestions?

Re: Digest Header Size #featurerequest

Bruce, Thanks for quick response and info.
My experience with Thunderbird was just an example.? My concern is that the current large header takes up a lot of real estate and I think detracts from the usefulness of the full featured digest, particularly on smaller screens.?? I'll just continue to recommend the simple digest to our members if they want something condensed.
Take care, john

Stan -- Subscriber message delivery varies, depending on what service they are using to provide their email, how stringent/broken those provider's spam algorithms are, and whether the subscriber is a member of some other groups. Message delivery tracking is a function of the account, not the group. As a group owner, you can only see information that applies to your own group, so what is shared with you by clicking this button is by its very nature incomplete.?

For example, an account can go into bouncing status even if nothing has been posted to group X, because of activity in group Y (or notifications that didn't get delivered, etc.). In such a case, you as the group X owner would go into that subscriber's email delivery history and see absolutely nothing wrong, but the account is bouncing anyway.

Individual account holders can get a more complete picture of their own message delivery at?/account?page=bounces

Re: Special Notices not delivered to all members who selected Special #specialnotice

Thanks, Duane. I checked that, and there were no bounces.

Check the status at /yahootransfer using the link for that transfer at the lower right.? As long as it says Invite received, just wait.? If it doesn't, send another.

The only reason I can think of is that some of them bounced.? You might check on that.? Some email services are more prone to intermittent bouncing fests than others.
