Re: Monthly notice not going out
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýShal,? you lost me.? It is titled a monthly reminder.? It says it is sent out monthly so what is it that I am seeing that is not there?? What I am hearing is that the monthly reminder does not go out automatically every month like the description implies ( "Message sent to the group every month" ).? Am I wrong?Jim On 11/18/2019 11:12 PM, Shal Farley

Peter,
I then previewed it using the eyeball icon. Everything looked fineMost likely the problem is that the formatted text editor strips many HTML tags and parameters when you save the text. I believe that is the same for the Sig text as well as message bodies, wiki pages, and elsewhere. I don't know of any specific documentation about it though. Re: Monthly notice not going out
Jim,
Why call it a monthly notice if it is not sent out each month? Why call what a Monthly Notice? "You see what you want to see, and you hear what you want to hear." -- Rock man, from The Point! You can easily verify that the Yahoo content is still there.
In that case, simply start another transfer of the main Yahoo content to the main (parent) groups.io group. Create a new GIO subgroup (with a different temporary name), and transfer the Yahoo subcommittee content to the new GIO subgroup. After you have verified that the new content is complete and correct, delete the current committee subgroup (remember to change its name to a unique random string first), and then rename the temporary subcommittee subgroup to its desired original name. Should work but don't wait too long. Art |
Re: Can I set questions for people requesting to join the group?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI am curious why the pending subscription response does not include the link to the approval page for that member.? I set up the pending subscription notice a couple days ago and today I had one response but had trouble getting to the approval page on my smartphone.? After I finally got to the page and approved the member I noticed that the pending member was in the list (with others that did not answer the pending subscription notice) making it necessary to go back to the original reply and see what the email address was of the person that did respond.Thank you. Hello,
Is there any Wiki or Help info regarding html signatures?? I basically copied and pasted the code signature I use for Apple Mail. I then previewed it using the eyeball icon.? Everything looked fine but when I sent a message out the formatting was wrong. Does Groups.io add certain parameters I should be aware of? I've attached the Good and the Bad. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

Is there a way to send screening questions to someone requesting to join the group, either automatically or saved in the group to be forwarded to the applicant? We just set up our new group today and could not find a way to do that. We used 3 screening questions for people applying to join our Yahoo group and continue to use them for our Facebook group. We would like to do the same for this new group.Yes, there is a way to screen potential members - if your group is restricted. Use a Pending Subscription notice. See -?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Screening-New-Members-Using-the-Pending-Subscription-Notice Lots more in the wiki - especially info about logging, changing email addresses, adding an email alias for sending, etc. And info about settings -? /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Quick-Start-for-Group-Formation /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/home Frances FAQ on Moving from YahooGroups GMF Wiki: (unofficial) Help for members (and would-be members) and group managers |

Re: Heic photo format (iPhone 11, iOS 13.2.3)
There are lots of "standards" that have never been implemented.
In this case it seems there's been not much actual activity between 2014 and 2018 but Apple, in hopes of saving space in their more advanced phones, dredged up this standard and implemented it.? The fact that none of the graphics programs recognizes it gives Apple an edge to hold off competition. During 2018 there has been lots of papers about the format, etc. I suspect that since most of the graphics industry isn't intensely Apple-centered, they may not have been aware of Apple's implementation or they just don't care? -- Bob Bellizzi |

As you suggest, it's probably easiest to just change the setting for images you want to post to Groups.io. However, HEIC appears to be the highest resolution image that Apple provides, so for archiving photos I download them from iCloud and save on my PC as HEIC, then use a converter to get JPGs. I think everyone missed the OP's question. How does he retrieve the money in his Stripe account? I'm asking the same thing. In my case, having opened an account with Stripe and giving it the Account Name of [MyGroupName], the Legal Business Name of [MyGroupName], along with the Statement Descriptor of [MyGroupName Donations] and associated my website as: /g/[MyGroupName], as well as other personal info, I then had to attach/add a bank account and set up a Direct Debit. What was then necessary was to add a Bank Account and set a Payment Schedule under Settings > Payments and Payouts > Bank accounts and scheduling. Adding the bank account requires you to set up a Direct Debit arrangement (to receive payments) and then a Payout schedule. You can select an Automatic Daily, Weekly or Monthly schedule, or a Manual schedule. So far, I've received one donation in my connected bank account and expecting another 4 payments on Monday 25th November. Does that answer your question, sufficiently? Roger |
