I'm not sure about integrating -- AFAIK the actual signing up has to be done on the Groups.io site, but you can put buttons, fill-in fields and links on web sites where people can very easily sign up.

Well, you probably don't want to hear this,but Yahoo! webmail does exactly that. If you "hover" the mouse pointer over the end of any displayed subject, an image of a magnifying glass appears.
